Wrestlers you hated as a kid then liked as an adult? (and vice versa)

As a youth didn’t like that no good pesky Flair, but learned to appreciate his heel work later. Though will say he has become a parody of himself these days.

On the flip side…Liked Mankind and his journey, but then ultimately learned he was a smelly leftist carny loser later on. Embarrassing.

What about you all?

Never got into Cena wrestling(I had a like 15yr gap when I never watched. But the more docs I see on WWE, seems like he was great in his era. I don’t think I hated him just whatever.

Didn’t really like Roman. Mainly cause I wanted Cody champ but his return has me sold. Just the bad ass attitude he has.

In the past, I was young so golddust confused me. Too strange for my 5yr old mind. Definitely didn’t like Eddie G, but I really miss him. He shaped the game. Hated Austin, legit love him now. Hated HHH same way.

Love Kevin Nash, as a kid I thought he was a clown.

I could prob go on lol

I know it means nothing, but social media being embraced by the superstars and breaking character a little bit to give us a look into their personal lives. Interviews for docs etc, have changed my opinion on people when they come across as humble and genuine

I grew up on WCW. I was really young, like 9-10, I was so upset over Hall and Nash coming in and "taking over." Looking back, that was the best stuff ever, and WCW needed it desperately at the time. I appreciated the NWO more as I got older for sure, especially the first year or two of it.

As a kid, I would watch Raven in WCW and get so pissed off. He'd sit in the corner, grab a mic and my jimjams would be in a full on rustle during his promo. I really hated him. No joke. I specifically recall his match with Goldberg for the US belt. At one point, he attempts to escape through the crowd. I was yelling at my TV when that happened. Truly enraged. What a coward I thought. But then, I was thrilled when Goldberg took the belt off him. I really hated Raven. Turns out, he was just doing a really good job as a heel. He ended up becoming one of my all-time favorite wrestlers once I began to understand the genius of both the character & the performer. Completely underutilized during his career.

I stopped liking him and started liking Eugene a lot more. I was a fan of nick dinsmore i gotta admit that. Him vs triple h was rushed honestly then he became a jobber by wm 23.

fuking hated hbk as a kid, even then thought he was a massive ph@got and couldn't understand how any guys liked his male gigolo gimmick

wouldn't say i like him now but can't deny he's the best in ring performer to ever do it

can't think of any wrestlers i liked and now don't

can think of a ufc fighter;

chael sonnen, was by far my favorite fighter, really got me into mma with his trash talk, was devastated when he lost to silva

now i find him unbearable to listen to, rambles on for hours about nothing, just talks out of his ass about anything to stay relevant

I can definitely see why. I was devastated too while chael controlled the match for 4 1/2 rounds then gets caught and submitted. It was sad to watch for me too. I am not up on the latest sonnen news anymore but I liked him back when he was talking trash and beating some scary fighters. He’s beaten many tough fighters who looked way tougher than himself.

Tj dillashaw and wand you can add to my list. Especially wand.

He's not really relevant anymore

He just did a complete joke boxing match vs Silva, which was just a sparring session
He supposedly wants to box masvidal as well

It's his weekly vids which I stumbled upon which really turned me off him, painful to watch tbh.
It's actually kind of impressive someone can talk for hours on end and say nothing, I'll give him that
