Am i wrong or it's just part of the game?

I buy pies from Costco and sell them at Farmers Markets as "artisan" and i have two white girls I've known since my restaurant days sell them at farmers markets. Typical all American white girls, blonde, blue eyes.. also have them wear overalls. Sell the cakes by the slice for 9 dollars.. the whole pie costs me like 14 dollars and i get like 8 slices out of each.

$9 x $8 = $72
$72 - $14 = $58

Lets say you sell 1 pie per hour…….what are you paying the girls/hour?
How do you account for your time getting the pies & setting up?
How much did you spend on gas & depreciation on your vehicle to get the pies?
How much do you pay for the booth to be able to sell your "artisan" pies at this farmers market?
How much do you get taxed on your sales?

Moral of the story…..you're actually losing money

In general, a discussion could be had. In OP's specific case though, I think he lives in NYC. The pretentious f*gs who live there deserve to be overcharged.

Can't imagine being so poor I have to waste my Saturday and/or Sunday at a Farmer's Market to flip $14 store bought pie into $72 of earnings selling by the slice.

It's wrong in that you're lying to your customers and selling something that is not at all "artisan" lol. It's false advertisement, especially since people go to Farmer's Markets to avoid exactly that sort of mass produced product.

if you just called em regular pies and sold em, I'd say you're fine

I don't buy for a second that he's doing this. I know people that sell at farmers markets and I also know two girls that bake stuff and sell their cookies/cakes/breads. The girls that bake don't even bother with farmers markets. They do a 'pop up' and/or do online orders.

By the time you factor in everything you said. He's barely making enough money to make it worth his while. And in a long term average he's likely losing money.

It was popeyes. They would buy the tenders for $4, and sell them in a $13 sandwich.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.
