What's a GOOD Laptop for College? [REPS]

Not into computer gaming but wants something solid/for classes that won't break the bank. 500-800 bucks maybe?

If its just for college then just get an Ideapad or Yoga, don't worry about the processor if she's just taking down notes or researching.

Here is one for $700

https://www.amazon.com/ThinkPad-T14-...BGHT5H5M/?th=1

The Yoga laptop is just a Laptop that can fold into a tablet and back, could be handy for taking notes if you're doing math or something. Trust me Lenovos are built like tanks.

Great..looking at the 699 one. Can't really find it any cheaper. New Egg has same price specs as amazon. Wonder who has a better return?

MacBook Air. Period. Very light, and fast and the battery seems endless. Anything else is inferior.

I did an edit, that $699 is an E14, not T14. Still a Thinkpad, though, which has better build quality over Ideapad or Yoga. Thinkpad is business class.

Not sure who has better return policy. The few times I've did return with amazon it was pretty easy.

This one here is Refurb T14s for $457

I've had my Thinkpad for 6 years now. Maxed it with 64GB RAM, 4Tb SSD. It's a good machine just by having the GOAT keyboard feel. It also looks professional and business-like rather than screaming teenage Tyler Swift fan. So I would recommend a Thinkpad.

Well, he's not a girl or ph4ggot so an apple isn't even on our radar.

I mostly wanted to give you well-wishes for sending your kid off to college, but these links might help:

Best sellers in traditional laptops
https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/pc/13896615011/

Best sellers in 2-in-1 laptops
https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/pc/13896609011/

I mostly refuse to buy from 3rd party sellers in those lists (if I can't find the same being sold directly from Amazon then I ignore it). I might make an exception if it's definitely through Prime and has a lot of reviews.

I will say that I've had pretty good luck with Acer and HP laptops.

$699 has more RAM and storage. E14 has a slot to upgrade the RAM later, if needed.

$699:
16GB RAM
512GB Storage

$576:
8GB RAM
256GB Storage

I have a Lenovo Yoga 710 (I think that's the model?). Got it for everyday stuff like 7 years ago and it's still doing just fine. The only problem, and it's well known for that model, is the fan runs loud and relentlessly for zero reason, even when the unit is cool. I found a few different work arounds but it's still an issue.

You get a MacBook if you want something that’ll last for a minimum 5 years. An M1 MacBook Air is what you’re looking for in that price range.

Get your kid a base MacBook pro.

1. Computer hardware has been overkill for years now and even the cheapest hardware is overkill for all but the latest games. The difference is, Apple has the best build quality in the game. If you get a specced out MacBook, then yes, very overpriced, but the base model has the same build quality and is actually a good deal.

2. People are sheep and the smart move is to play the game rather than complaining. Sloots like Apple, getting your kid Apple stuff will help him with sloots, not a lot but it does help. If you love your kid, spend the extra money.

Actually just suggested the Yoga. I like how it folds all over the fkn place. I'd use it to watch movies in class.
