Rap fans of misc, is Kendrick Lamar even a good rapper?

I know he gets hyped up a lot and I only heard about his songs until the Drake beef, with the exception of Humble which was catchy. A lot of his other songs just seem tough to listen to. What's his appeal?

He loves the smell of his own farts, that much is clear. I'm surprised he hasn't changed his name to "the artist formerly known as".
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Depends on what you look for in rap. Imo, yes. Listen to Good Kid Maad City.

Hes definitely number 1 of the big 3

Not like Us is actually a great song and had many double entendres which most his songs do

Lyricist wise hes the greatest alive imo but J Cole is right there with him

Kendrick is a phenomenal lyricist, one of the only artists in the mainstream still spitting consciousness and crafting his songs with a message.

This is a fair take too. Kendrick’s music probably has the least replay value of the big 3. I personally listen to Cole the most because he’s a balance of using clever bars while still sounding dope over a beat. Drake is obviously the most “listenable” to the masses even though he’s a ph@ggot.

This is how I see it. I can respect the skill, but it's not really my cup of tea.
