Fasted morning cardio is actually the truth….

Been running trails at 6:30am consistently every morning for a couple of months now. I take 200mgs of caffeine, chug water, and do few miles with around 800ft of elevation gain. I absolutely suck at running, but recently, its been getting a lot easier. Makes me feel awesome right off the bat every day. Allows me to get 30-40mins of morning sun on my skin every morning as well. Then I get back and chug some beet root juice, electrolytes, and a home made smoothie with fruit, a little kale, and around 40g of egg protein. Great for cutting as well. Down from 226lbs to 207lbs and haven't lost strength in the gym.

Would recommend.

I suck at morning exercise and have tried it countless times training for races.
How long did it take you to get acclimated or to "wake up" when you began this?
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and…It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

I naturally wake up pretty early. I don't even set my alarm anymore. I started off hiking the trail for a month or so. Then gradually started to run certain portions. Then sprinted up the hills and walked down. Then one day, I just felt really good and I just started running the whole thing.

No way I'd be able to just run it every day without working up to it like that.

Same I used to wake up at 4:30 and have an hour/hour 30 gym session for a couple years

Switched to afternoon after I quit my job and my lifts were night and day compared to morning session

Just do OMAD. An average workday from 9 til 5 fasted is going to burn way more calories than jogging, unless you're a cubecel. I eat between 6:30-8pm and drop weight like it's nothing especially if doubling up with low carb <50g

I like cardio in the morning, but lifting in the morning sucks balls. Feel weak af. Have to lift later in the day.

Its ok, a little slow. But I'm not too worried. Once the election is over and rate cuts happen, it should go nuts agin.

You don't eat anything between 9-5? Coffee? Tea? Gum?

Nice op. I run a good amount too and have my entire life. I find once you really are going to run some serious distances you really need to carb up or your body will be depleted. I ve ran 13 miles + recently and 26miles + in the past. I try to stick to around 4 miles ++ most the time. Carbs help

Nope. Coffee makes my breath stink and I'm in a patient facing role. Tea is gross and gum looks low IQ. After a few days your body just gets used to it and you don't get hungry during those hours

You can get away with a few miles fasted no problem. What people don’t realize is running helps to get you shredded af too. As long as you don’t run to much enjoy getting ripped my brother.

Been doing this for years and years.

Wake up 4:00am, make a shot of espresso, slam it, sit for 25 minutes, do wordle, hop on my bike and ride.

Sometimes I'll do 30 miles and it's not even 7am yet.

The best part: NOBODY is out yet. It's just you, and maybe some owls hovering around.

No retarded fat ass people driving around, no stupid dogs with dumb fuk owners, no kids…..

Just the GOAT.
Spoiler alert; you die at the end.

My knees are destroyed from years of running 60 miles a month or so, so I recently switched to football style sprint workouts. Jog a lap or 2, then run 10-12 100 yard sprints. Rest is walking back the 100 yards then do it again.

Sometimes do hill sprints at the sledding hill. Or gassers.

Recommend you give it a try to change it up sometime

I watched a YouTube vid of that boxer Anthony Joshua and he stated how he was not a morning exercise person and found better results exercising when his body felt awake and ready for it as compared to trying to force it. It makes sense. Exercise when the body feels ready for it and one can make a better effort during that time.

Floyd Jr. as example I believe is a Night Owl and will go on runs and work-out in the AM hours….then he naps during the day

Caffeine before running?

Ideally you want to avoid that unless you're not doing a triathlon to prevent your heart rate from spiking

If it works for you due to practicality reasons (haven't time to eat and digest breakfast before running) then that's a reasonable argument for doing your runs fasted. But other than that, fasted cardio offers no benefit over non fasted cardio. Infact you would probably perform better on your runs if you ate some carbs beforehand and as long as you were in as much of a calorie deficit as the previous weeks you would still lose the same amount of weight.

There are some that purport faster cardio providing any real benefits are a myth but honestly I’m with you OP. From my experience when on a cut switching over to fasted cardio has felt like it’s helped me out. Also like you allude to it’s a great way to just jumpstart your body in the morning. You just feel better getting your heart going first thing.
