I am getting older but I used to bench almost 4 plates, and now I am struggling with 3. I don't even try to bench 3 plates anymore because I don't want to fucc up my shoulders.

We need a new ideology with the core values of reason, honesty, science and secular progress over the older traditions of religion, superstition and dogmatic faith that have long defined humanity. I definitely remember it. It was like a lifetime achievement award...the ultimate prize. Me and my boys spent years dreaming of 3 plates. We'd even put 3 plates on the bench and practice taking it off the rack and bringing it down for a negative, and then get help on the way up. Lots of inconsistent lifting later (fast forward) I was benching 285. It was the week to go up to 295 (advance). It was weird, as 295 went up like 225. WTF? I'm never one to stop at an arbitrary number, I always take stock of how it felt. Dreams of 3 plates danced thru my head. Once we got 3 plates on it, it didn't feel right. Remembering how "easy" 295 was, I put two more 5 lbs plates on...325. I stroked it.

Fast forward, I failed at 335. But I will always remember the day I finally got "3 plates" after years of dreaming, I actually bypassed it and I went into the day trying to get 20 lbs short of it and ended up 30 lbs ahead of my day goal and 10 lbs above 3 plates.

Kinda gave up on it due to shoulder pain unfortunately. I just hit 120 db's on flat a few weeks ago though. If I could hit the 140's or 150's someday I think I could die happy without a 3 plate bench.

Most i ever put up was 275. I've never weighed more than 175 though so that has something to do with it i think...i could maybe make it but 315 has never been a goal of mine. Would be dope though.

I hit 305 in 2014. So close. I did hit 405 on squat however. I'm not upset about it. Being cut and moderately strong is way better.

Pretty happy benching 225 for 6-10 reps considering history of shoulder injury.

Yep. Even made a thread about it here when I finally did it. Probably my favorite achievement in lifting, since that was the first "z0mg" goal in the gym.

I still do 315 once every couple of months for a few reps just to know I still can lift it. Other than that I normally stick to 225 for reps since I don't want to get injured and my chest/delt gains are pretty much how I want them.

Started with 95lbs for six reps. My goals went like this: 135, 185, 225, 275, 300, 365, 385...never hit the big 400

3 plates was never really a goal, it was a fuking wall I had to mentally get past but never really cared once I hit it. I was always a 3+ rep man, Iv never done 1 rep maxes in my life.

This, lol at 515 power clean at 185 when barely any guys in weightlifting in any weight class are full cleaning 500. Thats like saying u knew this 200 pound dude in college who deadlifted 1000 pounds or some dude ran a 9 flat 100 meter.

Just did 300x1 on my last set yesterday, and I can basically tell I have another month or two before hitting 315. I was having issues putting up 265 when on a cut, but now that I'm back up to 168-170 the bench is starting to shoot back up. Dont know what other goals to hit for strength wise once I hit that tho.

Bench and OHP are the first things to go when cutting srs. Either way if you are at 300 you are just 1 training cycle away from 315, about 8-12 weeks depending on if you eat enough to grow slowly

Nahhh, when I was a young teen first obsessed with bodybuilding, I wanted 200. After I got 200, I wanted to bench 2 plates, 225. I don't remember 225 but I do remember the first time I hit 200, it felt so good. Because I could finally say I could bench 200 pounds. It just sounded so good to my ears "tooo-hundrid-powndz" like music to my ears. Highest I ever got was 270 when I was 17 at about 160 pounds (pretty damn good I think) and I repped it pretty cleanly.

I'm sure I could've hit 300 or even 315 if I kept up with the lifting. Plus I had a job at that point, so I had more money to buy food if I wanted to go full bear mode, offseason mode to do some real heavy lifting. But soon as I graduated and turned 18, it was all jiujuitsu, kickboxing, and cardio. My gains and strength melted away and I haven't been anywhere near my 17 year old gains. Even when I try to get back into the lifting, I start making some good strength gains, but life/school/career always gets in the way. I seriously cannot wait to be done with my exams and start working full time, so all I gotta worry about is work and lifting, I'm gonna get so fukking jacked brahs you wait and see, even if its just for old times sake. I miss the feeling of walking about with a muscle suit, it's like I had put an avator on, I felt like I switched bodies with a gorilla srs, sloots used to mire so much more. Even when I start lifting a little bit, my body reacts quickly because of muscle memory, but every spring midterms, spring finals, or hard summer class, or fall midterms, fall finals, school always kicks my ass and I end up having to stop the gym and it kills my momentum. I haven't lifted for more than 3 months consistently since 2008 srs.

When I start getting into the gym regularly, I kinda wanna try to get back up to the crazy numbers I used to fuk with as a 17 year old, just to remind myself I still got it, and it helps me cope with the fact that I am getting older. Make me believe that I can turn back time if I can just go into the gym and lift the youth out of my through some sweat and intensity. But idk if its a smart idea for me to be pushing heavy weight as I get older and more injury prone. But fukkk my ego. I wanna just fukking be strong like I used to be. Dreaming about being a Hercules type figure, that I see on Met-RX world strongest man, lifting boulders and chit onto pedestals, or walking with a fukking car attached to your shoulders, keg toss, etc. I wish be a 22 year old behemoth for the rest of my life.
