Jar Jar’s transition from bumbling fool to galactic senator made zero sense and had no explanation...

He literally had no character development at all. I hated the sequels as much as anyone but let’s not put on the rose colored glasses just yet. The prequels always have been and always will be terrible.

This was the best part of the prequels

The birth of Vader and death of Padme. Such a tragic since Anakin was the cause of all his nightmares.

Just let this fuking shiit die already.

They keep trying to rehash this from its core of the 70s. They need to completely move away from the fuking dead weight, understand that audiences today don't want the corny shiit of the 70s-now, and that a more well thought out story with some depth is the way to go. Mandalorian is hitting that somewhat, but obviously given that it's a show, it has to appease to a simpler fan base to some degree, who can be spoon fed weekly bits at a time.

Funny you mention that. In the original ANH script, it had a LOT of dialogue about trade disputes and even mentioned midichlorians. - remind you of a movie? His friends (like Brian De Palma) told him to cut that crap out so he did.

The original opening crawl literally had 2 paragraphs about trade disputes and commerce wars LOL. By Episode I he was too powerful so no one would tell him trade disputes are boring and a waste of time and not an interesting way to start an Empire.

Now that the "skywalker saga" is over I hope they can do that.

Have different series or stories set in the SW universe - with different tones.

You could do adult intrigue/thriller.

You could no film noir style gangster tales from the outer rim almost true detective style/bladerunner esque. Mandalorian is a middle ground with broad appeal.

They could do a more wise cracking pulp adventures style with other characters.

While Palpatine was in senate he purposely dampened his force powers in order to not be detected

By the time he did that to Padme it was already known he was the emperor

I have a theory that's not actually how Padme died. Remember what Palpatine said about Darth Plageius the Wise? He said he could stop those he loved from dying.

Anakin should've never survived that immolation, and yet he did. Now fast forward to Vader on the operating table, than Padme giving birth. She dies, Anakin lives.

What did Palpatine say? "It seems in your anger, that you killed her" Vader couldn't believe it because he felt her life force. Palpatine used Padme's life force to keep Anakin alive.

Well, I’m sure it will be an improvement over the feminist woman currently running things but that’s a pretty low bar.

I'm hoping Disney Plus copies Star Trek and keeps making new series with different characters and storylines. Then we can pirate them.

Hopefully Mandalorian can show the big wigs that constantly trying to appease to the starwars nerds/fanboys is only hurting in the long run, as they just want to see the same stupid shiit over and over again. Fukking so annoying.

Yeah right, they're probably going to do him like James Cameron. And even if he did get an overhaul, won't make a difference unless all the other movies he didn't take part in officially became non-canon (including Rogue One, sorry RO fans). They really destroyed the lore without him.

Probably a marketing stunt. Unless he has the power the delete everything Disney has done since they bought the franchise, the story and plot damage is too far gone. I doubt he will have true freedom with the direction it's heading.

and yet Marvel movies are the biggest movies of today...Far cornier and simple-minded than Star Wars.

Star Wars has some VERY dark moments, one one of its main pillars is mysticism and spirituality, the characters go through real change, Vader chits all over Thanos as a villain, and the story itself is quite shakespearean:

A good hearted young boy grows up a slave, becomes a man and has his mother murdered and who dies in his arms, he starts learning from the villain for the sole purpose to save his wife but as he full succumbs to evil to get what he wanted, she dies anyway. Thats tragic AF.

Then his son grows up to be a man himself always wanting to follow in his fathers footsteps, who he thought was a great hero. turns out his father is actually the villain but dedicates his life to the hope that even his father could be redeemed from the darkest depths of evil. in the end the father sacrifices himself for his son.

Bruh thats far deeper than anything Marvel, sorry

This.

People tend to forget that ANH was very, VERY close to being a dumb bs movie and it was saved by the re-editing done by Marcia Lucas.

Lucas needs someone to balance/rein him in and point out his idiotic ideas, or else we get absolute messes like the Prequel Trilogy.

I was done with that overdone franchise the moment I left the theater after seing LJT. Just and downright awful movie. TFA/7 was pretty bad too, and everything I've heard about 9 makes it sound like a joke as well. Bringing a geriatric George Lucas back for some oversight does nothing to make me interested in their next lineup of crappy movies. Didn't they already promise to make those Rian Johnson - the guy responsible for TLJ disaster - directed films anyway?

Lucas isn't going to polish that turd into being nice and shiny. Furthermore, Lucas started going batty himself as early as when he put Ewoks in ROJ back in the 80's. Then of course, the prequels were pretty terrible. Like I said, trying to milk that old fart for anything else out of that franchise isn't going to help anything.

Sounds great as a synopsis, but the execution was (to a lot of people) corny and simple minded. Anakin goes from being a decent guy (aside from the slaughter of the sand people out of revenge for them massacring people) to slaughtering children - simply because he's told to - in 10 minutes. I've never seen such appalling character development.

Thanos in contrast sounds simple minded on paper, but had depth in execution. And was praised for being written with empathy, and not just another megalomaniac villian who wants power for it's own sake.
