Have you looked at the world around you? The vast majority of people don't lift, and then only a minority of the population that does lift can be described as dedicated.

Yet the world is still fukking crazy as hell.

Not that you aren't onto something in your OP. Lol
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

The lifting. Definitely the lifting. I was fine with being skinny before. Was lean and active. Then I get this idea that I wanna be buff and force myself to buy the perfect pushup (tm) and stick to it's plan, and here I am 8 years later counting calories and macros n chit while crying about my calves.

I'm buff now tho so its ok.
I'm back, bitches!

Anyone on gear is definitely messed up mentally.
Not sure about anyone else who just care a lot about it. A lot of people spend 10+ hours just watching TV each week (or something else more or less pointless). Is everybody messed up?
10+ hours a week in the gym is a bit extreme for sure though.

This. It is no different than any other hobbies. True it may attract guys who just want to “get big” to get more respect and/or girls, but those guys usully dont actually enjoy lifting and quit after noob gains stop anyway. It’s like saying everyone who plays the guitar and practices a lot but is not in a band or a professional is a compensating loser only playing to try to impress and pick up girls.... Some people like myself just enjoy the release of lifting some heavy weight and looking good is just a biproduct. Sweeping generalizations like the op suck no matter the topic.

I take it seriously only because if I stop I begin to feel weak, sloppy, endurance goes into the dumps and I start getting fat. Feels terrible. I do one hour 5x a week and stay pretty intense. No real meal preps, I just eat at ~maintenance. Party at least once every 2 weeks. Chat up a decent number of sloots, my text and irl game is strong as fuk tho. Been single for years now because it's just too fun. But I agree, lifters in general have massive issues and they need to work on balance.

Power lifters for sure. Bodybuilders who plan all meals and keep unnatural body fat levels also for sure.

Working out decently, eating decently, and having a normal life otherwise is pretty simple.l and not indicative of mental illness.

Meal prep makes things so much easier, most likely to stick to your nutrition when everything is already made. If you have a busy schedule it helps a lot also. I think people who compete take it to another level.
I never try anything I just do it!

if you think too much into anything you can ask yourself "why do i do this why do i do that" "whats the point of this?" "why do i even enjoy this?"
