150 million farm animals are killed a day by humans often in much worse ways then this.

This gorilla had a pretty decent life safe at a zoo. His death wasn't too bad either.

When a kid's life is at stake you don't mess around with trying to save a gorilla. Thats the way it is.

Slightly off topic. I remember when I visited my aunt a few years ago she had all these childproof stuff on. I didn't expect it so I pulled the draw and it could not open, her 4 year old son came in and did it for me. lulz.

Saw two little boys last week crossing the street and catching butterflies, playing by themselves on a trail. I felt I needed to protect them, kept an eye on them did not even know them. It was a "safe" area so maybe the parents were okay with that. I guess you can't grow up your kids too scared but still you always gotta keep an eye on them.

If the gorilla had killed the kid then we would be complaining about them not doing anything. I say we need to get rid of zoos period. Let them enjoy their life the way they supposed to not caved up for our amusement. We have enough things to amuse us.

True but I don't really mind zoos. Eventually there will be no place left for animals like gorillas to live. Its not the ideal animal life but lets be real. Because of humans animals are screwed.

Living in a zoo where you don't have to worry about predators or getting food, is not that bad of a life. Better then no life.

A lot of parents have lost their children temporarily.

In this circumstance it was in a zoo, and so the environment created a unique and dangerous situation.

I don't care about non human animals dying. I just don't want them tortured. Killing can be done in a quick way that doesn't involve a lot of pain.

That said I think meat is overrated and I am eating a lot less of it these days.

That was my point.

The slaughterhouses aren't that way, unless the things I've seen on youtube are extreme examples. The animals seem to be killed in front of each other, the witnessing animals are terrified, and try to frantically escape when they realize they are in danger. IMO that is a horrific way to die.

Like you said; one gorilla gets shot while displaying dangerous behavior towards the safety of the child, and people write angry rants online. Meanwhile, thousands of animals are slaughtered literally writhing in pain or trying to run away in terror, and the same people don't give a chit.

Maybe it has something to do with the gorilla being our ape cousins though.
That said I think meat is overrated and I am eating a lot less of it these days.

Which is why, despite all of this cultural nuance about "being good" and all that jazz, the life of a human takes precedent over another.

Unfortunately, for survival, that means phucking over one another. Imagine you and a gorilla in the same room with the LAST piece of food on earth. What happens? Do you think other animals' sense of morality stops then from phucking you up if you ever encroach upon their young? Humans should measure and decide when morality is most applicable, but in a life or death scenario, our young should take precedent at the end of the day.

You can easily tell whos mentally ill throughout most of these posts. You see, humans are social by nature, our self-preservation is tied into being within a group.

Anxiety exists as a warning that youre about to be outcast from the "group" - replace group with "society" or any other human community.
For example, someone will become anxious if x behavior that they do feels like it will isolate them from the group - "society".
Humans dont survive on their oen so being a part of a group is necessary.

So, these people saying "kill the human" as opposed to the animal are effectively damaging their self-preservation - which is tied into their group image - and the assumption can be made that its already damaged; at least in this point and time.

What the phuck does the poor standards in parts of the meat industry (most of the animals have a quick and painless death, yes, others don't and that's an issue but one entirely unrelated to this) have to do with people feeling outraged at the highly preventable death of an animal not intended to be used for food? This wasn't a sad "oh well" accident, it was one of the biggest cases of human stupidity I've heard about in a long time and now a 17 year old gorilla is dead and the gorillas who were part of his family aren't going to be in a good place (yes, gorillas feel that **** too). Wish you phucking retards would stop bringing this up in EVERY single phucking thread like this.

Holy phuck you appear dumber with every post. The gorilla wasn't showing any aggressive or threatening behaviour. It was curious. The job of the top male is to investigate new things and that's what he was doing. The most alarming part was when everybody was shouting/screeching, that prompted him to drag the boy away from the noise. This is pretty much what animal behaviour experts have said.

Don't get me wrong, I understand their zero risk approach but you need to shut the fuk up lmao.
