Its not about what you make, but what you keep. Is the 1 million before or after taxes money? After taxes, his 1 million would be 4-500k. Sacrificing your life for a few year isn't a bad idea, me and my wife are doing that now saving up for more investments. What I'm saying is I don't want to be a millionaire wage earner, I'd rather get it through other means that aren't as highly taxed.

By no means am I downplaying anything your friend is doing, making a million a year even as a wage earner is fantastic money and he has to have the knowledge to be in a job earning that much.

Salaries for experienced radiographers (Band 6) range from 25,783 to 34,530. Salaries at lead or advanced practice grade (Band 7) range from 30,764 to 40,558. Service managers or consultant radiographers can earn up to 67,805 (Band 8c).

Canadian currency is lower than the U.S. In the U.S the top 10% of them don't even crack 500k. Most of them make 200-300k. That salary is not rich because it does not even crack a million.

Here radiologists crack 1 mil and they live with Canadian currency so 1 mil is 1 mil.

In this document made by the government (it's in french sorry, but the numbers are there) you will find exact numbers. You also need to consider that there are many women in radiology and they tend to work less hours (30 hours) to have time for family, so they bring down the average salary. All in all I'm saying that a 1 mil salary for a radiologist in Canada isn't something odd at all.

Go under Diagnostic Radiology (radiology diagnostique)
There are 651 radiologists in Quebec making onaverage 593 604 $ /year.
From those 651, you will find that 378 make anaverage of 803 911$/year. The rest make less mostly because they work part-time (20 hours per week).

The 800 000 average is an accurate number, but you will find that many of them bill 1 mill + (I've met them IRL).

Its better to at least shoot for it and somehow reach somewhere in the middle than to LDAR and be ok with a "double the minimum wage" job like the vast majority of Americans.

The same thing applies to people in school who attempt to get an "A" in a class but end up with a "B" The people that don't really care and just try to get a "C" usually end up with "D's" or failing the class.

Idk brah I already own some nice assets + have passive income. My career path (medicine) pays in the low 6 figures (200-300k) if you're average and mid to upper 6 figures if you have decent business skills.

Will I be truly rich? hell no. Would I be surprised if I'm not in the top 1% easily? hell yes.

I understand where you are coming from and yes I do agree that the environment you grew up in is very important. I grew up in a 2 parent household, a loving family that concentrated on hard work and education. We had nothing due to being refugees from a war, but yes both my parents were university level degree holders and my dad was a successful businessman in the home country. He went from CEO10k/day to literally working the drive through at McDonalds to feed his family.

I lived in a low end neighborhood, so I know I did not get top level education as a child. What I did get was parents instilling the stress on education and work ethic.
I do however know business men who did not grow up in the same loving environment as I. Orphans or abused as children. Education not stressed. We all share one thing in common, we hustle and grind no matter the odds.

Those radiologist that are cracking $1M are typically businessmen correct? They arent simply going into someone else's practice and reading studies for someone else while making an hourly wage. Correct?

If thats true, I know a trash man that cracks close to $3M a year.

The statistics I posted above are a result of billed medical acts. The more acts you make the more you bill. Those who crack 1 mil usually have hospital duties + private clinic (not necessarily owner of that partic, they just work there). Obviously they can be businessmen and make a salary that isn't reported in official statistics because they're not medical acts.

That's what so impressive about radiology is being able to gross in close to a mil only in medical acts, if you have a business and other investments it doesn't show in official statistics.

I dont need to be lamborghini multi million dollar mansion rich to be happy.

I have a decent full time salaried job with a small fruitful business on the side. A house of my own, a rental property and a fun car for the summer. Couldnt have asked for more and definitely didnt even dream of being here being raised in a 1 bedroom apartment with both my parents combined income being below poverty line.
