He said 1 in a billion just because he didn't want to explain limits and infinity to a TV audience. An autistic person would do that. It's actually much more likely that we live in a simulation than he said.

So, he didn't pull it out of his ass to sound impressive. The real number is much more (literally infinitely lol b/c you gotta divide by 0) impressive.

I believe that our simulations purpose is to create a technological singularity that will result in a being or beings so intelligent that they're able to create bodies beyond the simulation and end up in the base reality.

That would be exactly like how there's millions of sperm. But only 1 makes it to the egg and makes itself a body and a mind to exist in this higher reality. That sperm becomes a human. Perhaps all us humans are competing sperm to become something bigger than us.

I'm very familiar with limits and infinity (math ugrad), but that still doesn't answer my question. Of course if you assume any non-zero epsilon of improvement in the realism of virtual/embedded reality, then there is convergence to true realism as time tends to infinity. But how does that argument also prove (or establish a probabilistic bound on) the claim that we live in a simulation to begin with and that we are not "base" (or ground truth) reality?

I asked my mom how to spell Berenstain and she immediately without hesitation spelled it "Berenstain".

Everyone just pronounced it Steen because it sounds better. Then many years later after The Berenstain Bears fell off the face of the earth, everyone remembered it as Berenstein due to the pronunciation.

Wasn't the kind of chit you paid attention to as a kid. But the parents of the kids who read Berenstain Bears books would likely remember it properly. If they're educated.

Not to toot my own horn, but I was a smart kid. I had the same reading capability in kindergarten as I do now. They used to make me go on the morning announcements at school to read poems because my reading ability was so great. I can still remember NES Game Genie codes for Super Mario Bros. 3 in 1991. XNKX-GLIE.

There are a lot of stupid people out there who misremembered things, but I have always been a stickler for spelling and I can clearly remember it being spelled Berenstein.

I recall hearing some kids unsure if it was pronounced "berenSTINE" or "berenSTEEN". If it was spelled Berenstain, there wouldn't be any uncertainty.
