Plenty of people have already offered advice on what you should do, but here's another thing. If you still can't convince yourself you won't look like a fool by approaching a girl, just tell yourself to just walk in her direction. That way you only need to make yourself do that, and you know that you can still bail, so there's less pressure for that first step. But chances are that if you do that, you won't bail, and talking to her will seem much less daunting because you'll have already set the wheels in motion. It will require less effort and overcoming of fear than if you had to pump yourself to talk to her rather than just walk in her direction.

What I noticed was most people Girls + Guys are socially awkward and afraid/shy to talk to people they don't know. You come to realise they are more nervous than you are that in turn gives you more confidence until then, fake it till you make it.
