this thread is the dumbest thing I've ever read. it is proven that for humans, your metabolism is mostly the same. It comes down to calories in vs calories out. That's pretty much it. It has also been proven that people who are overweight underestimate their caloric intake and overestimate their activity levels. Your metabolism is a simple math problem.

it also isn't surprising that the construction worker (high activity levels) is saying it is all genetic.
It's also not surprising that eating clean is lower calorie, therefore it may lead you to believe that that's the only way to be in shape.

No shredded ab pics in either avi. "Genetics".

How low do you go on fat grams per day? Most posters here say 100g a day minimum.

Nope

Calorie intake, expenditure and progressive overload of weights are the cliffs to bodybuilding and looking good

Theres not one tool like HIIT, clean eating, keto that is the answer

What he doesn't realize, is that the HIIT burned more calories. If he had adjusted his intake, he still would have lost weight without it.

Unless someone has a disease like hypothyroid (which can lower metabolic rate as much as 40%) genetics/inherent chit don't mean chit, all human metabolism is very close. Energy expenditure is the main question mark, some people are constantly moving all day either because of job or even just fidgeting around in their seat and others are basically in a coma all day. It's all about energy intake. No need to even do cardio or move around, just eat less.

2016 and people are still trying to act like there's more to this equation than calories in and calories out.

Its really that simple folks. No style of training or diet has any distinguishable influences in this matter.

You eat more than maintenance, you gain weight, you eat less, you lose weight.

Just gotta find some calorie level or cardio level or eating schedule or whatever that works and be consistent

It doesn't matter if it's IF or HIIT or just CICO or whatever

Genetics determine how strict you have to be with diet

Skinny teens born with abs who claim to be "hard gainers" don't know how lucky they have it to never have to cut body fat. They can lift to build a solid foundation then jump on dat dere and they will look like gods

If you were to follow those guys and watch/record every single thing they eat/drink you would see why they are that way. They think they are eating a lot but really are always under 2k calories. You force feed them 3500-4k with the same amount of activity and they'll put on weight.

Off topic but just came across this pic, had to share it somewhere

LOL at 100g. I'm currently taking in like 200-300g and gaining weight fast. 100g is bulking for me. Towards the end of my cut which was like 2 weeks ago my fat was at 53ish grams a day.

well if you're in a caloric surplus you'll gain weight, if you're in a deficit you'll lose weight or if you're at maintenance you will stay the same...its all about calories in and calories out...you could do cardio 12 hours a day, but if you're taking in more calories then you are burning you will still gain weight...

I don't think it's genetics. Research showed that something like 90% of people's metabolism falls within 400 calories

You're over 200 lbs and do construction work and lift so your metabolism is fire

2200 cal is already about a 1k deficiet for me so even without HIIT i should have lost lbs but it wasnt significant like when i do HIIT which has been proven to burn fat and retain muscle, while a cal deficiet can lead to more muscle loss

if you didn't lose the same amount of weight then 2200 isn't a 1k deficit and/or you aren't factoring in the amount of calories lost from HIIT.

don't try to over complicate this lol. of course you aren't going to lose the same amount of weight eating 2200 when you aren't factoring in cardio activity

Also gotta keep in mind fat loss isn't perfectly linear. Could easily just be in a stall phase for a week.

Also you must be very active cause my TDEE is around 2700.

water weight, sodium, toilet etc you have to take into account too. just a week before I stopped cutting literally id have days where my weight would go up a pound but I'd look leaner. That's why it's best to weigh yourself every day but take the weight at the end of every week as your weight. Even then it's tricky but that's life.

You aren't arguing with us, you are claiming that your body violates the laws of thermodyanmics

Go to MIT to be studied immediately since your body is apparently unique among 7 billion

Same. Been injured out of the gym and binge eating the last week

Feel like rotting
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

you are missing the point, dieting just accounts for total mass lost which is fat+ muscle, HIIT is a way to lose fat without losing the muscle. A high intensity HIIT can burn fat and your diet can still add muscle. When i was in the police academy i was doing 6miles of 400m sprints almost everyday as a road guard. I was 165lbs at 10%bf going into the academy i ended at 190 and probably around 7%bf. HIIT is much better for overall fat loss than just dieting
