You make friends by getting out of the house and meeting like minded people. Gym, car club, etc whatever you're passionate about.

I don't know if you saw my replies ITT but most the people I work with are 40+ with kids and cats, they aren't really similar to me at all. People in the gym don't like to be approached from what I've seen, but I could try a spin or kettlebells class.

Most my hobbies are hiking, running, golf or driving to new places, but all of those are individual hobbies. I love doing them with a nice audiobook in, but I sometimes wish I had friends to do them with.

I'll look into a running club because that's quite like-minded, or see if anyone on Yik Yak wants to climb a mountain or go to the beach with me.

Is cold approaching at coffee shops or pubs a good idea? I don't really care about being rejected because I've been secluded all my life and it won't dent my self-confidence in any way at all, I just don't know in people in modern society are comfortable with a random guy coming up to them and talking srs?

I will say that the fact you appear to have a good, mutual relationship with your parents, and you say you're happy with many aspects of your life which puts you ahead of many others, who may have more relationships but are unhappy, experiencing loneliness, dissatisfaction etc. like others mentioned, reach out to the people you'd want to associate with, learn from each experience, success or failure.

Find a different job where there are people your age? What happens to all the people that graduated from this particular prestigious university? If the culture is full of old people, why did they hire only you? The story doesn't add up as companies need interns as tax write-offs.

You keep bringing up a multitude of excuses. No one is going to be able to give you a solid answer except yourself. The basic concept is to talk to as much people as possible, even if they are 40+. They have experience in socializing. Maybe they have a daughter? Befriend them and ask for help? There are limitless possibilities, but one of them isn't sitting on MISC and reiterating the same questions. You have to try andfail. Get up and learn from those mistakes. No one can spoon feed it to you.

I understand the feeling and used to be exactly like you, but I get up everyday and try harder. EE master race checking in - there are not many FA's in EE's. You've gotta have great interpersonal skills to be hired in many firms here, because you deal directly with clients.

Why find another job if it's more effort, means moving away, and I save less money due to paying rent, council tax, transport costs, food, etc.

Even then I might not make friends. I might be an FA social outcast and that would feel worse because I would be amongst younger people.

5-bedroom houses in my area run for $650,000+. I can't really afford that tbh. And there's no point in me buying a 1-2 bed apartment given that i'm going to inherit a 4-bed, with possibility to convert second living room into a bedroom place, eventually.

More importantly, I don't want to commit to a mortgage because that means cucking my life away to working 50 hour weeks. I would much rather save and invest the cash into financial services and live off the interest so I can retire early. But that means making sacrifices now
