hope you had a gd bday, you seem like a cool guy, you have a sense of humour and you're self aware enough, no reason you won't be able to click with the right people. would play golf with you if I wasn't in london.
I will say that the fact you appear to have a good, mutual relationship with your parents, and you say you're happy with many aspects of your life which puts you ahead of many others, who may have more relationships but are unhappy, experiencing loneliness, dissatisfaction etc. like others mentioned, reach out to the people you'd want to associate with, learn from each experience, success or failure.

Find a different job where there are people your age? What happens to all the people that graduated from this particular prestigious university? If the culture is full of old people, why did they hire only you? The story doesn't add up as companies need interns as tax write-offs.
You keep bringing up a multitude of excuses. No one is going to be able to give you a solid answer except yourself. The basic concept is to talk to as much people as possible, even if they are 40+. They have experience in socializing. Maybe they have a daughter? Befriend them and ask for help? There are limitless possibilities, but one of them isn't sitting on MISC and reiterating the same questions. You have to try andfail. Get up and learn from those mistakes. No one can spoon feed it to you.
I understand the feeling and used to be exactly like you, but I get up everyday and try harder. EE master race checking in - there are not many FA's in EE's. You've gotta have great interpersonal skills to be hired in many firms here, because you deal directly with clients.
Happy Birthday pal, you're going to make it. Make the first step this month, second step next month. Everything takes baby steps and you will not over come it in a day, night or even maybe a year. The first step is what counts.
There are books on social skills, read them. "how to make friends and influence people."

mirin that interior.
hope you don't regret blowing your life savings on that as soon as the new car buzz wears off.
maintenance on a 4 year old bmw is also going to cost you a fair bit
but it sounds like you have a pretty solid safety net

While I have barely any savings now, Friday of this week I'll tuck away 3K and I won't feel the hit of the BMW.
I've already paid warranty, tax, insurance and the car off in one

Even then I might not make friends. I might be an FA social outcast and that would feel worse because I would be amongst younger people.
Doesn't seem worth taking the risk when my job is comfortable right now.
Is there another way to make friends without changing jobs?

For now, rather than rotting doing nothing, I took an immediate start role as a Junior Consultant living at home. It's nowhere near the pay of IB, but also nowhere near the stress, effort of moving away and hours too.
Not maximising my potential right now, but I'm a lot happier than when I was interning in Big4 and IB

More importantly, I don't want to commit to a mortgage because that means cucking my life away to working 50 hour weeks. I would much rather save and invest the cash into financial services and live off the interest so I can retire early. But that means making sacrifices now

Op is confirmed fraud, many many times. I and other uk miscers could help him out, I actually have a full autist acquaintance, but the amount of pure bs is impossible to get past. No one likes that in a friend. Houses are not 650k in Wales. You easily had enough for a deposit on a small apartment which would have got you started. That's what I did at 25.
And btw, white middle class families arrange marriages for their kids? Are you fukcing serious?
