I should note Deer strikes are an "oohhh fuuuuuu" moment. I see a few reports every year of one going through a windshield and killing people around here. 99% of the time its no big deal and just messes up the car, but when there are about 50,000 car/deer accidents in Michigan every year (http://www.michigan.gov/msp/0,4643,7...5455--,00.html) that 1% is a big deal.

One of my good friend's growing up dad was a fire chief and always got called out for accidents. He was first on the scene one time where a woman had hit a decent sized buck and it came through the windshield and it's rack had impaled her chest. Both were alive and every time he moved closer to try to help, the deer thrashed her. She ended up dying before they could get the antlers out of her. He said being there for that messed him up for a long time.

Pre-empted answer to obvious question here: no he was not carrying... possibly could have saved her life if he had been able to put the deer down before it really tore her up, but it's tough to tell considering how old she was and how much damage she had already received

Lol it doesn't bother me at all, gives me a good chuckle. I like it when people make comments like that, it reveals the capacity of their mental faculties for the world to see.

He's just trying to troll by getting a rise out of someone upon the reasoning of "You are not good enough at x. Oh, and you're ugly." It's like they don't realize that there currently is, or will be, someone better than you at x. Their line of reasoning ends like this:

Troll: You are worse than me at x.
Me: Someone else is better than you at x.
Troll: ...
Me: bertstare.jpg

"If you can't be the best, never try."

"If you currently are not the best, don't submit your attempts to the public or we'll make you regret it with all our might... by laughing at you!" lmao what are they going to laugh me to death? Bring it, just lol

F-ck deer. A buddy of mine was diagnosed with Lyme disease last week from a deer tick. GF hit one with her car (minor damage and she was fine) this year as well. First deer I ever killed was a really nice buck...I95 with my 02 Pathfinder to the face lol

But yeah...f-ck them. I'll kill the big ones, the little ones, the female ones...DGAF. If it's legal and brown, it's going down.

Anyone else enjoy shopping for family members into firearms?

Srs, I love it. I literally just pick small gifts I would enjoy if I were to receive them.

I got to shop for my brother, brother-in-law, and father who are all in to firearms.

yea, it was no big deal - I just over react to stuff like that - even at 35, still have a lot of growing up to do

she drives a highlander so there's less of a chance of it coming through the windshield - luckily no moose or elk around here

even though it would be nice to have a steadier supply of elk meat

^^ edit - maybe I should buy us both brush guards - that was intense

I've never hit a deer, but I've had many close calls. Almost smoked a coyote at 85 mph on my way up to Oregon last month. And I did hit a kangaroo in Australia, but that was a rental car, so it didn't bother me lol.

Glad the wife is okay boyo.

Usually this time of year the Bluegrass Parkway is littered with dead deer. We went to a UK football game last November and I'm pretty sure we saw at least one every two miles while were on it.

It's very comparable to that near my parent's in eastern OH. My mom works for the DOT and she says the numbers are staggering. They will do a run to move hit deer from the roads and sometimes literally have to cycle back through when they are done to get ones that were hit while they were picking up the ones farther down the road.

....and we have only have a 1 week gun season... I don't get it

Ohio is a destination for trophy deer hunting - they don't want to jeopardize that I guess

Should have a doe only season or something

We have a 2 month long gun season and our deer pop remains ~2 million constantly

Since we're on the topic of deer, my 8 year old killed his first one Saturday morning. And he made a fantastic shot (proud Dad).
I had the meat in an ice chest outside waiting to take to the processor. I came home from work Monday and was gonna drain the water and add ice. I opened the ice chest and the meat was GONE.
I've gone through every scenario I could think of like a dog, coyote, ****** etc. being responsible. I actually think my ****ing neighbor took it.
I'm still angry about it.

Whoa, ballsy.

Trespassing & stealing meat from a known hunter/firearm owner on private property. Is your neighbor a dumbsht? If yes, then it might be your neighbor.

RAFFLE !

FYI all ye shooters and things that go bang enthusiasts: latest raffle at the The National Navy UDT SEAL Museum, an MP5 Signed by Dick Marcinko, ye salty founder of 6 and author of Rogue Warrior and others.

Chances of winning are quite good compared to many others as the number of raffles sold is not that high and goes to a good cause. Is only $20 per. If interested, see:

I've gone through every scenario I could think of like a dog, coyote, ****** etc. being responsible. I actual think my ****ing neighbor took it.
I'm still angry about it.
that sucks! how does your young hunter feel about it?
I'd buy a camera to see what/who you've got snooping around.

Merked my first deer in the summer of 15. Bitch ran parallel beside me, I noticed and braked. It cut a hard left and dove into my front right wheel, and it flew all the way back to my rear right wheel. Blood on the wheels, dents, scratches, etc. ******* got up and ran off and probably died with a broken neck or some shiit.
