Unlike in Iraq and Afghanistan, the US will seek aid from neighboring states, such as Jordan, who have interest in Syria stabilizing, and not falling to terrorists. Restructuring of failed Middle Eastern regimes will be better handled by current prosperous secular Middle Eastern states.

The international community wouldn't exactly let us sit idly by after the chemical attacks, but how many foreign leaders do we have to usurp before learning a lesson that it only breaks down the respective nation, leaving it vulnerable to be overtaken by smaller, extremist forces already vying for power. There is essentially a "you break it, you bought it" policy with military intervention, and a complete ousting would put us in the position planned for Syria's neighbors. We've already tried doing so ourselves, and it was a messy string of complications that ultimately cost us more than the end result's worth. If an action had to be made, defanging the snake instead of outright cutting the head off at least doesn't commit us on the same level, but it will all be a matter of time to see how Assad reacts to this, as well as what new information comes out over the details of the gas attacks in question.

We spend more than the next 25 countries on earth on military COMBINED. Of which, 24 are allies.
What happened today as far as cost goes would be like me firing a single 124grain 9mm FMJ at an intruder in my home when I have 500,000 bullets in my garage. It's nothing. A drop in the bucket of military spending. Technologically speaking we have the largest military power in the world just in our navy on the water. That's not counting their backups of airforce and last resort marines/army/actual boots. There is no WWIII ever going to happen. Not in our lifetimes by a long shot.

Is it sad that innocent Syrians are dying? Yes, of course it is. But the reality is that they are in a civil war. People die in civil wars, innocent people included. We had our own civil war. It isn't fun.
Ask yourselves: how the heck does a civil war in Syria have any impact on Americans? It doesn't. Well, until we take out the guys who keep terrorists at bay, then ISIS takes over and grows in power, allowing them to hurt Americans.

A traditional bomb can cause a great deal of pain and suffering, there's no doubt about that, so can a bomb carrying a chemical weapon, so can a bomb carrying a nuclear warhead. They're made to kill people. That's what they do. They don't care about pain and suffering. You are jumping to a lot of conclusions.

That doesn't mean I'm a liberal pussy who thinks we need to get involved in Syria. It doesn't mean I'm not a liberal pussy either.
Some reasoning: Let's think of the non-nuclear bombings of WWII. They were terribly devastating. They destroyed cities. They caused immense pain suffering to innocent people. While the nuclear bombs certainly caused much more damage, more death, more pain and suffering on a bomb-for-bomb basis, they certainly didn't cause as much damage as all of the non-nuclear bombs.
The point is that traditional munitions cause a ridiculous amount of pain and suffering too. It's nonsense to argue that the Syrian regime using normal bombs on their citizenry is better than them using chemical bombs on their citizenry. Both are terrible. There's no reason to argue which is better. That's nonsense.
For us to attack the Syrian regime over it is crazy. If President Trump drew a line in the sand a la Obama, then sure, that would make sense. But I don't recall such a thing ever happening.
Is this a precedent to be set for the future? Can no country use a weapon that we deem unacceptable without retaliation? Are we going to stop Iran and North Korea from fulfilling their nuclear goals?
To finish, again I think a major and very important point is that Syria is not a threat to us whatsoever. Syria wasn't going to do anything to us. They were doing things to their own people. Around the world regimes have done terrible things to their own people. In the '90s Rwandans killed nearly a million people with machetes and other crazy weapons. That kind of **** happens. It isn't our responsibility to stop it.

If he leaves the strike at this, then GG. If he continues to escalate, I'll begin losing my faith in Trump.
Around 500,000 already dead. Muslims have been murdering each other for 1,400 years - this is what they do.
If we fight a war in Syria, it will be a war on Europe's behalf, not America's, Australia's, or the UK'S (the three who will undoubtedly join).
Unleashing America's energy reserves and private enterprise means the nation should be less focused on post WWII geopolitical strategic goals.
Set up the safe zones and GTFO.
