Well, if we're going to go down the hypothetical rainbows and sherbet road, there wouldn'tbe10,000 refugees if they could get their collective sh*t together in the ME.

If we were looking to destabilize Syria, we would have gone the route of Lybia, and bombed the leader. Instead, we removed the threat of Assad targeting his own people.

>"The process by which Assad would leave is something that requires an international community effort both to first defeat ISIS within Syria, to stabilize the Syrian country to avoid further civil war and then to work collectively with our partners around the world through a political process that would lead to Assad leaving."

>This does not indicate a desire to continue a foreign policy of "kill the leader, allow destabilized chaos." This indicates a desire to neuter the military of Assad, and to, as Trump stated during his campaign, set up safe zones in Syria to eradicate the extremist rebels and allow the state to organize. Unlike in Iraq and Afghanistan, the US will seek aid from neighboring states, such as Jordan, who have interest in Syria stabilizing, and not falling to terrorists. Restructuring of failed Middle Eastern regimes will be better handled by current prosperous secular Middle Eastern states.
Succinct and well structured delineation overall.

The international community wouldn't exactly let us sit idly by after the chemical attacks, but how many foreign leaders do we have to usurp before learning a lesson that it only breaks down the respective nation, leaving it vulnerable to be overtaken by smaller, extremist forces already vying for power. There is essentially a "you break it, you bought it" policy with military intervention, and a complete ousting would put us in the position planned for Syria's neighbors. We've already tried doing so ourselves, and it was a messy string of complications that ultimately cost us more than the end result's worth. If an action had to be made, defanging the snake instead of outright cutting the head off at least doesn't commit us on the same level, but it will all be a matter of time to see how Assad reacts to this, as well as what new information comes out over the details of the gas attacks in question.

A drop in the bucket of military spending. Technologically speaking we have the largest military power in the world just in our navy on the water. And At what price do we put on human life? Is 20...50....10,000 missiles, Two 115gr 9mm FMJ = the cost of one American soldier? Which Trump kid will be the first to be boots on the ground?

Cant save em all. Moreover, that is honestly the dumbest question asked this year. Is Trump some sort of mind reader? Do you think he knew this would happen? So is Obama a bad person for not bringing in a bunch of starving African children? Plenty die each day because they don't have food to eat, yet not a single child was brought here to America to be saved.

Same can be said about the homeless that die daily. Where was your lord and savior then?

Trump spoke about the horrible deaths of children by Assad gassing his own people.

Apparently he felt empathy for those children and decided to act.

Funny how he didn't feel this way while he was running for office after the 2013 gassings.

People are dying there every day not just from the gas attack. If he's gonna use the claim that the missiles were because he cares about the children who died then it's horsechit and he has alterior motives.

Maybe, maybe not. But each and every single president has had the chance to save lives, American lives, and didn't act. So don't try and single out Trump on this one. Since you're such a self proclaimed CEO 10k/day, tell me, how many potential lives have you attempted to save?

Children getting gassed is beyond evil, and I back Trump 100% for what he did, if all this is factual and not some BS.

The rules of warfare which have developed over the centuries, our common sense, and our common humanity, instruct us that if war is to be fought the combatants should make an effort to avoid civilian casualties. It is different, morally, to attack an enemy combatant and then accidentally or inadvertently kill a civilian, compared to intentionally targeting a civilian population for destruction. Assad didn't target enemy combatants. He went directly after the civilian population, and that's why it's different.

While true, hisnpoint is that nobody brought this up during the Obama administration, but are quick to jump on Trump for firing off 50 for a good cause, it what we hear turns out to be correct.

Yes, you're right, the partisan bullchit is annoying and really pointless. A sensible person would criticize Obama's drone strikes as much as Trump's intervention.

You haven't made any sort of argument for why certain bombs are worse than others. Perhaps you have knowledge of a variety of bombs, I wouldn't say that I'm an expert but I can't think of a single reasonable argument for why one sort of bomb is worse than another. A traditional bomb can cause a great deal of pain and suffering, there's no doubt about that, so can a bomb carrying a chemical weapon, so can a bomb carrying a nuclear warhead. They're made to kill people. That's what they do. They don't care about pain and suffering.

Some reasoning: Let's think of the non-nuclear bombings of WWII. They were terribly devastating. They destroyed cities. They caused immense pain suffering to innocent people. While the nuclear bombs certainly caused much more damage, more death, more pain and suffering on a bomb-for-bomb basis, they certainly didn't cause as much damage as all of the non-nuclear bombs.

The point is that traditional munitions cause a ridiculous amount of pain and suffering too. It's nonsense to argue that the Syrian regime using normal bombs on their citizenry is better than them using chemical bombs on their citizenry. Both are terrible. There's no reason to argue which is better. That's nonsense.

For us to attack the Syrian regime over it is crazy. If President Trump drew a line in the sand a la Obama, then sure, that would make sense. But I don't recall such a thing ever happening.

Is this a precedent to be set for the future? Can no country use a weapon that we deem unacceptable without retaliation? Are we going to stop Iran and North Korea from fulfilling their nuclear goals?

To finish, again I think a major and very important point is that Syria is not a threat to us whatsoever. Syria wasn't going to do anything to us. They were doing things to their own people. Around the world regimes have done terrible things to their own people. In the '90s Rwandans killed nearly a million people with machetes and other crazy weapons. That kind of **** happens. It isn't our responsibility to stop it.

Given that Assad had absolutely no motive and in fact had very good incentives not to do this, I'd like to hear some good reasons on why he would use gas on civilians. How exactly does doing the one thing that could lose him the war he goes and does?

If he leaves the strike at this, then GG. If he continues to escalate, I'll begin losing my faith in Trump.

Around 500,000 already dead. Muslims have been murdering each other for 1,400 years - this is what they do.
