Still suck that Vega will be announced end of July though.
Am I the only one who thought that there are screen tearing or artifacts when they are trying to demo a game on threadripper and 2x Vega at 4k? Or it might just be some lighting or like camera flash effect.
I'm excited to see the 2in1s & laptios with Ryzen and Vega on board though. That's ROG laptop looked good too.

The only thing I ever do that has unlimited thread hunger is GUI DISM and converting between ESD and WIM.
I will be very interesting to see what game devs can do with more threads. In 3 years will the average game actually be closing in on 2X performance going from 4(8) cores to 8(16) cores?

But seriously, if the 8c/16t 7820X will really be $599, that's 33% more expensive than the cheapest 1800X you can get right now at $449. That's $150 for an extra 0.5 Ghz boost clock. Both have 3.6Ghz base min. clock. How much room for OC do we think the 7820X have after being clocked that high? Considering its TDP is already at 140W compared to 1800X's 90W.

If the 12 core Threadripper offers the 64 lanes it's supposed to, and costs ~$600-750 I'll probably try to make that happen."That boulder is too large. I could lift a smaller one."

10 cores at the speed would be amazing at anything the average enthusiast would want to do, but as you implied, at a price.
Over all though I think you are right. For the average user that will simply build and run @ stock the price
erformance is not in question.BTW, there is a delid vid of these new chips already and the TIM is yet again absolute crap.

The latest version of Blender was released at the end of February, and it appears to have had differences in rendering speeds. If the TR and initial Ryzen reveal are directly comparable then we're looking at a core clock of 3.4GHz x (8 cores / 16 cores) x (25.09s / 13.04s) = 3.1GHz.
1600X can do all-core boost to 3.7GHz, so that would imply the TR is at 3.7GHz x (6 cores / 16 cores) x 32.06s / 13.04s = 3.4GHz.
1700 stock can do all-core boost to 3.2GHz, which would imply that the TR is at 3.2GHz x (8 cores / 16 cores) x 24.17s / 13.04s = 3.0GHz.
I'd also found a stock 1700 taking 28.46s on definitely the latest Blender (2.78c), implying a TR clock of 3.2GHz x (8 cores / 16 cores) x 28.46s / 13.04s = 3.5GHz - if they weren't using an older, slower Blender, that is (but why would they in a performance demo?).

On air, 100% correct. With a delid, conductonaut and AIO, we will see.
My suspicion is that if craptacular TIM gets you 4.5 on a core or 2 while stock then significantly better cooling and more voltage should make 5.0 possible.

hey brahs, i have a noob question
so... ive decided to finally build a gaming pc but im tryna keep my budget to around $1,000 or so (give or take a few hundred)
what im wondering is... would it be possible to include a gtx 1080 in this build or would that require me to skimp out too much on the rest of the parts?
i was originally considering a build like this:
but instead, swapping the 1600x & cooler for the regular 1600 (with the stock cooler), and maybe look for cheaper parts will opting for a 1080 instead of a 1070.
would this be possible or is it just wishful thinking on my part? sorry if this is a super noob question but honestly i have no idea what the fuk im doing cuz this is my first gaming pc (srs)
any help would be appreciated srszzz (pls halp, im tryna get out of the console poverty race and become a pc master racer once and for all)

When were vega cards originally supposed to be released when people started hearing about them awhile back? It seems like they have been talked about forever now. I hope they live up to the hype

Is this the build? You could save some $ on the RAM and a few bucks off the PSU and try tofind a nice used 1080 for around 400 if you only had 1000. Doesnt look like to much room to save on everything else they are all pretty cheap options already besides just finding the right deals.
I feel like RAM prices shot up since I built my pc 6 months ago. I bought 16gb vengeance lpx 3000 for $84 lol
Keep on eye on pc build sales reddit

hey guys i am currently in an conundrum with my graphics card and wanted some input
so i basically spent a good amount recently on the other part of my rig (1700x yada yada)
I bought a 3gb 1060, which i have an opportunity to still return and bought it basically as a placeholder for vega
as of right now i only have a 1080 p monitor and only play games like battlegrounds, i get decent FPS but i think its pointless for me to have spent so much on the rest and put a kind of ****ty graphics card in there.
So, my thought was to return the 1060 and get either a 580 or a gtx 1080 on a deal. My buddy said it would be stupid for me to get the 1080 and not the TI version, but as of right now i dont plan on additionally upgrading my monitor. So the really only option is to upgrade the 1060 to something that i would be happy with in the 4 to 500 range that would last a while until i was ready to upgrade the monitor as well.
as for vega, i dont think at this point it is even worth waiting, especially if i am only gaming in 1080p in the near future, but wanted some thoughts on that.

The 1080 is in a whole different league than a 580. I never played battlegrounds before but I made a mining rig with 470s just recently and messed around with one in my main PC swapping my 1080 out and it was more than fine in overwatch/LoL at 1080p but im assuming that game might require a better card than those. I was tempted to just get rid of my 1080 and keep a 470 in my main computer as it was a MSI Gaming X and imo is 10x more aesthetic than this evga square brick looking turd 1080 I have lol.hey guys i am currently in an conundrum with my graphics card and wanted some input

An rx 470/480/570/580 card is a bit hard to come by atm too with the mining frenzy and everyone buying them up. People are buying 470/480s for like $300-400 on ebay its nuts.

Also I doubt you can find any new AMD cards this time since its all out-of-stock due to miners.

About 2 months later, I sold them for $100 more per card than I paid retail to some Bitcoin miners. Also I doubt you can find any new AMD cards this time since its all out-of-stockdue to miners.

I paid like 160 i think after rebate, its the smaller card (3gb). i think the 580 is like a hundred more?
I dont think battlegrounds is super intensive.
I feel like i should just hold on to this card because i really didnt pay THAT much for it, and if i ever decided to do a mini build or just have a spare gpu lying around it wouldnt hurt.
