Why take them to the hospital when all you have to do is have faith and god will heal them?

I mean $400 ER bill or just pray?

Very edgy. But even the local priest would tell you to go to the hospital.

Christians have founded and operate many hospitals, so there's clearly no qualms in Christianity about going to a hospital. Doesn't make any sense why these parents wouldn't utilize one.

Well see this doesn't make sense. If they really believe what the bible says that "whatever you ask in my name it shall be given to you" then why not just pray?

Obviously they either believe it 100% and just pray like these parents did...or they don't believe it and therefore go to the doctor.

There are plenty of religious whackos that don't go to the doctor and don't get vaccinated.
They take the bible very literally and believe that if you don't fully depend on god for everything then you are doing wrong.

I've seen several people die in our (former) church circles because they would try to prove their "holiness" and how much faith they had by not going to the doctors.
Some even praised them for having so much faith.

When they died they'd say "well they finally got their healing..they aren't suffering anymore. No pain. New body! Hallelujah!! They are better off than any of us. God is so good!" *

* Actual things I've heard from people's mouths.

They got that. It's in the form of the doctor at the hospital that's capable of treating the condition.

They didn't utilize it because they are retarded. There's no religious authority that says don't go to the hospital. Christians opened hospitals for a clear reason - we need them.

So do you agree that obviously they don't really believe?
Otherwise why would they have to open up hospitals in the first place.

Why stray away from just depending on god through prayer like I'm sure their ancestors did?

Where's the bible verse that says running/using a hospital is a sign of disbelief?

There's none.

When you have to use a strawman it's obvious your argument is emotional, not logical. Opening/running/using hospitals is common practice for Christians.

Because opening a hospital for DOCTORS to assist in saving/healing people goes against the bible
In that if people actually believed what the bible says -if they just BELIEVE and have faith then god will heal them
Then they wouldn't need doctors or hospitals in the first place.

You can say "doctors are God's way of healing people" all you want, butwhy doesn't he get off his porcelain throne and do it himself then?

Why would an all powerful god need us mere mortals to do things for him?

Wouldn't it show he was real If he'd just regrew some limbs? ( Inb4 people would still doubt and they should just believe without question)

People can say " Luke was a physician" but that doesn't answer the question of - why doesn't good do it himself?

I mean he apparently heals people of cancer before they get chemo treatments, and he heals those people that have been blind and deaf all their life on those televangelist shows. Why couldn't he heal this little girl of her heart defect?

Guaranteed people that actually 100% believe this **** don't go to doctors.

brb an ant doesn't believe I exist unless I do things according to what it demands.
just fuking lol at your logic.

kunt demands a supreme being to act accordingly to his demands so he believes in God.

you got this the other way around bro.

And He already did all those things you're demanding, He even died in the Cross for our sins.

still, the creation demands it's Creator to prove Himself again and again accordingly to it's demands..

what a joke, what a spoiled child.

luckly for us, God is unfathomable more wise, loving and caring than any of us could ever imagine.

Once again, no part of the Christian religion claims or says anything you're saying. You're making stuff up to suit your emotional tirade.

You have absolutely nothing to back your claim that going to a doctor "goes against the bible". No religious texts claim this.

God never said he's going to come down from heaven and start operating on you himself either. These are all just things you invented with your own imagination and have nothing to do with Christianity.

Edit: I was going to say woman logic/10 but another poster pointed out you're a man, which is very alarming.

Good. They should be prosecuted for trying to kill their own kid.

We need to have everyone choose whether to have the doctor or the parents make decisions when you're unconscious. Like when you turn 18 they send you a thing in the mail or some chit

No, but I can see why you would interpret it as that. If you are a naturalist, the placebo effect is your only model for interpreting what I wrote.

I'm not sure what you seeming issue is with what I've been writing ITT, it wasn't defending the actions of the parents.

Terribly written news article. It says she was born with a small hole in her heart but then it says she was diagnosed at 18. If she was born with a hole in her heart and wasn't treated due to faith reasons then how the hell did anyone even know about the heart issue when she was a kid? Technically there are plenty of religious people & hippies that do a 'home birth' with a mid-wife which means the kid isn't getting any kind of once over by a doctor. No shots. Etc.

I'm not sure how the welfare of an18year old is the responsibility of her parents. Technically if they wanted to they could evict her from their residence and tell her to fukk off and die and it wouldn't be illegal. (At least where I live).

It really is hard to know wtf is going on though because the writer sucks so bad.

If he just proved himself once I'd believe much more than I do now. Until then it's just another tale in the long list of tales that have been told for centuries that people kill eachother over for believing differently. I was actually raised Christian as well but some of the stories are just so ridiculous I couldn't take it seriously.

IMO the messages that a lot of religions portray are much more important than the actual stories themselves. I hope those positive messages are taken more to heart than whether or not you believe that Moses walked across the Red Sea after it was parted by God.

I do hope you find God. I was like you a few years ago.

I asked once when I was child for Him to proof Himself to me, and you know what happened? He did.

Yet despite it, when I grew up, I started to doubt Him and to buy all media nonsense about religion being a clutch for weak people to deal with death, explain "unexplainable" phenomenons, religious people being simply brainwashed by it because they were raised to believe in a "fairy tale".

all that even when experiencing "supernatural" episodes..such spirits etc.

even played with Ouija boards etc.

a few years later I started researching, reading into it, instead of just spouting the samething I used to listen but never looked up by myself. When I looked and read the Bible, Jesus teachings, I could feel the Holy Spirit acting in me. I could feel all it's love. And how I was so wrong all this time. How I was fooled and played. (and heck, the Bible warned us of all that 2000 years ago).

Sum that by elites being satanic and actually doing rituals to ancient abominations (fallen angels) and life complexity, bogus agenda perpetrated by the media, etc.. you come to the same conclusion.

God exists. and so does the devil.

the devils greatest trick was fooling men he didn't exist, nor that God did. or that all religions are the same and that they lead to salvation.

Be not fooled. There is only one God. And there is only one way to salvation. Jesus Christ.

God judges us based on the grace which was given unto us. you and most if not all of the forum have heard of His words. He is reaching to you right now through me. Now it's your choice to accept Him or to deny Him once again.

No I'm a woman...and yes they do believe this. I used to be in a super religious (Christian) sect/denomination for 15 years so I think I'd know.

You aren't reading the verses that I put up either. Every single one of them says ASK IN MY NAME AND YE SHALL RECEIVE. there were probably 17 verses I put up.

It's not my fault if you don't have good reading comprehension bro.

My question..again...is if God will answer our prayers when we ask (if we believe) then why would they have reason to go to a hospital. Why create hospitals in the first place? Obviously "just praying" when someone was having a massive heart attack just wasn't cutting it.

I have gotten a few reps in this thread from those that agree. Those of us that were raised very strict know that I'm correct... unfortunately.

And no there is no specific verse in the bible that says "thou shalt not go to a hospital/doctor" but there are plenty of verses that tell them to rely strictly on god alone and not man.

I am not on an emotional tirade but I do hate it when people fail to see the dangers of religion, either because they "know good Christians who aren't like that" or because they are in denial about the order of things and what's expected of you by the "church" when you are very religious

How I feel about Christians is how I feel about the Duggar family. I actually (embarrassed to admit this) used to look up to them.

It wasn't until I got my brain back and left Christianity that I realized the way they raise their children is horrible and that they have some sick af beliefs. Same with Christians. Yes there are good People but at the core a lot have some ****ed up mindsets.

This is not religion/Christianity, these people are Mormons and Mormons are fruitcakes. They won't take blood or have a number of medical procedures. Wife is a nurse and literally watched a lady die when simply giving her blood would have saved her life, she bled out after giving birth. Doctor was screaming at the top of his lungs at the husband to allow him to give her blood and he refused stating those were her wishes. Not that kid and the rest of the kids grow up without a mom, or well I guess with Mormons maybe the other 3 or 4 moms will raise them I dunno.

The no true Scotsman thing again :/

Whether they were Mormon or whatever it doesn't matter, there are plenty of other Christians that believe this. There have been several cases similar to this in the past.

Either way it just shows how much religion can fukc with someone's head.

And as far as I know Jehovah's witness are the only ones who cannot accept blood transfusions..not Mormons.

all that even when experiencing "supernatural" episodes..such spirits etc.

even played with Ouija boards etc.

a few years later I started researching, reading into it, instead of just spouting the samething I used to listen but never looked up by myself.

Stupidity ITT

You pray for the child
You pray for the heart to heal
When the child is old enough, you pray for the surgeons hands during the operation
You pray for a smooth ride post-op
You pray and thank the Lord that you were able to improve the quality of life of your child

Whats hard about about this?

The trouble with being punctual is that nobody's there to appreciate it.
