I highly doubt the cop was rolling around with several grams of rock in his pocket, more likely what happened is the cop knew the guy was selling but couldnt put the dope on him so he fabricated the "finding" of it. Exactly which is why this cop will probably be fired if not tried under color of authority for false arrest.
I know but somewhere along this thread the focal point changed from what repercussions he'll face to the idea that if you were the judge you might let him off the hook or give him some sort of "sweetheart" sentence.

And what's making that even worse is that you are/were a police officer, the people who are sworn to uphold the law.

In reality what you're doing here whether you see/admit it or not is reinforcing the idea that cops will stick up for their own regardless.

Not only that but it kinda calls into question what type of officer you are or were.

Trust me bro I'm no cop hater though I could be with a clear conscious with things I've seen or been through, although super rare for me, I've dealt with some officers who were complete class acts (as far as I know anyways).

I can usually see both sides of the argument, but I don't feel there's as much grey area here as you'd like to think.
