I can confirm, ever since i started training WWF i have had more confidence than ever before. If i go to a bar and some punk looks at me the wrong way? BOOM i hit them with a DDT. Walking down the street and some dude eyes up my girlfriend? BOOM.... CLOTHESLINE. More than one opponent? No problem i pull out my nunchucks and let out a Michael Jackson "Eeeh Heeeee!" and start knocking *******s out.

I'm all for learning martial arts.

However, being able to 'wreck the guy who lifts weights' is such a stupid approach.

Maybe you live in a lawless society, but where I live, if I 'wrecked' someone, I would either get locked up or a criminal conviction, thus rendering my life as I know it as over.

Martial arts is great for fitness, self defense and just overall well being.

However, doing it purely so you know you can 'wreck' people is retarded, this isn't high school where you will get a detention for getting in a scuffle.

Lmao at this BS. Fighting is an uncivilized practice meant only for entertainment in the ring, like gladiators but a lot less macho. If your thread title said lift or shoot guns (more practical things) i wouldve agreed

I won't debate which activity is more practical. I was talking strictly from a self development standpoint. Combat sports requires much more discipline, conditioning, and mental fortitude than lifting and shooting guns.

IME (I've trained a bit) it's a mixed bag.

Some are dudes who keep their egos in check, and are willing to walk away from a dude with his chest puffed out. But there is a line in the sand.

Others are like you described... Eager to beat people up over 'funny looks'.

The idea that people who do combat sports are universally 'humble', IME is martial arts movie bullchit. There are many people who enjoy intimidating or dominating other human beings, and those people also like to practice beating people up.

Agree om OP post. From my experience most people who know how to fight are humble. Of course there are some individuals who have trained martial arts couple months and they act like Mike, until they got beaten by the humble person.

Why people in military train martial arts? Because soldiers have to know how to fight, when their gun jammed or they are out of bullets and you lost your knife in a mud. Guns can't always save you.

That's the absolute worst case scenario and it almost never happens. Which is why people still think Krav Maga is legit, because it's taught to Israeli special forces, but nobody had ever seen it used effectively.

Read it again. I didn't say I want to wreck him. "...can learn to be the guywho can wreck..." Can =/= will, or want to
And nope, wrote it myself based on my experience with it. Take it how you will.

A jammed rifle is still a way more effective weapon than a fist. That butt stock will split a skull right open. And it's basically an evisceration machine with the bayonet attached.

That's great, by all means just walk around with your AR-15, bayonet affixed at all times then. Obviously learning to defend yourself using your own body is meaningless cause it's not like people have been engaging in hand to hand combat since the beginning of time. Why would any sane person ever be in a situation without a fukin machine gun on their hip anyway?
Without the internet i feel like a small rock on the mountain.

I don't really want my posts on the internet tbh ... I'm just legit addicted to posting ... people become addicted to the internet look it up

lol exactly.

It's great to do some MMA, Combat Sports, or Martial Arts if you're into it. I actually took self defense (named "progressive street fighting") in Uni. Generally that false bravado is pretty dangerous considering not only weapons, but headbutts, knees to the groin, eye gouges, etc. "Sports" have rules. And yeah I've seen some tough farmboys, hockey, or rugby dudes who know how to rumble without any "combat sports" training. Even still those guys meet the wrong end of a screwdriver and end up in intensive care.

The more you learn about REAL combat the more you'd try to avoid it using your mind or train like a beast because you can't (i.e in Prison or Navy Seals).

This is the biggest lesson you learn once you start training martial arts.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit softly.

Lol. this shyt again. Sorry brah but those self defense classes are about as useful as cawk on a monk. Most people are aware of the possible dangers of street fight, let alone people who regularly engage in violent physical contact. Believe it or not, trained fighters can still fight dirty. They can kick you in the balls with three times the force of an untrained person. They can bite you too, as shown by Warmachine's street fights. If a trained fighter fight fairly with you on the street you should consider that mercy.
Lol at thinking trained fighters somehow lack the ability to fight dangerously. This is the false bravado that you should beware, not the one you stated.
