Eth and BTC are not really competitors. ETH is a smart contract platform, BTC is a digital store of wealth/currency - the only commonality is they're both based on blockchain technology.

Of course you could argue that either could be adapted, but each has it's niche target implementation.

So lets say TA holds true and we have a large correction. What would be a good hedge? We all know when BTC suffers so do alts. Eth does too but not to the extreme. That leaves USD or tether which are both bad for crypto. I for one hope btc keeps chugging. Alts catch up when btc goes sideways.

Right. Exactly. I feel like "Alt coin" infers that there is competition, that it is an "alternative" to bitcoin. I guess I was making examples of how ETH competes with or is better than Bitcoin, but in reality they do seperate things. I just think ETH should be considered an established main stream coin, to me, alt coin = **** coin.

I think really one of BTC's biggest issues is brand identity. Is it a reserve currency or digital cash. I don't think it can/should be both.

I am 100% ETH right now, expecting the ratio to go heavily in my favor. Its a longshot but this time money might go BTC--->ETH not just BTC---> Fiat

Poverty graph but you get the point. After every bull run, corrects a bit, forms a double wave bottom, goes back up ( B wave for TA enthusiasts), and takes the market on a correction of 20- 40 percent ( C wave ).
Technical analysis predicts BTC will get to 7400 USD, then drop back to around low 5k for another bull run.

Technical analysis is based on one thing : History repeats itself.

However, reputable traders argue that TA alone is not enough to predict charts ( and the crypto markets are a perfect example for it). TA does not factor news, hype, rumours or any other fundamental. It just takes into consideration the date of the charts.
What does fundamental analysis tell us :

BCH drama is over. BTC is king (just look at the posts in here, everybody is mad even though alts remained at their dollar value, btc value dropped). CME opening futures around december so a lot of FOMO from people wanting to get in before the billions of wallstreet enters the market.
It's not logical, but that's what fomo is. No body knows if wallstreet money is even going in BTC, people are just speculating. You never know if these guys decide to pump Ethereum instead, Litecoin or BCH ( since these 4 coins are the ones accessible on coinbase).

I suppose I can put in a buy on cuckbase with my hard earned wagecuckdollars and wait a week or however long the transfer takes.

Or eat the CC fee and have it available at any time.

Just set a bunch of buy orders from tethered ether I just sold. Ranging down to $6200 at 6 different prices.

Excuse my noob question but am I able to set a stop loss on binance. If we are due for a correction, I don't want to ride that crash down and wait. Otherwise, will I need to be at the computer and sell in real time during the correction?

My thoughts on BTC changed recently when someone suggested BTC as a focused store of value (akin to gold) while another coin focuses on fast transactions (e.g. LTC, cash).

BCH is garbage, but this illustrates the idea - the scalability debate is generally a trade-off between different factors.

I haven't logged in on coinbase in ages, but I have been seeing tweets for a week now that coinbase will add BCH/ BAT, so for BCH I'm not sure. I just checked, it's not on coinbase at the moment.

For btc dips i usually convert it to eth and buy back in. I did the same for the bitcoin cash drama and bought back in at 5900 with my eth. I think its risky and i lucked out. Anyone else do the same? I don't like tether and usd

Fukin tether, after setting my buys I have like $45usd in tether just chilling and I can't set another buy because the btc value doesn't hit the minimum required.

Their roadmap lists the blockchain and wallet for end of January early feb.
That is my limit with WTC, I don't want to get rid of what I have before then because there should be a pump.
Long term, there is no reason why the product shouldn't be a success, but the adoption of the technology won't be until like 2020-2021 and that's far too long to hold significant amounts of bitcoin in unless you have plenty to hold and still make trades elsewhere.

TFW you find a coin with a large spread and low volume not being spam traded by a bunch of bots on ether delta so you set up multiple sell/buys, come home after vacation and your order column is empty.

Be interesting to see what effect the CME futures market has on BTC moving forward - my first instinct says no effect because it's cash settled so is essentially a gambling contract. But that begs the question of how CME intends to always win on trading it. True of course they can design spreads/fees to always win but historically they've shown their strategy to be manipulation and naked shorts (see precious metals, stocks, forex).

Still, keep stacking because fiat is dead in the water, cat's out of the bag now, no matter which ones it ends up being we're going to see cryptos replace fiat

Relatedly, I'm quite sure we wont seeTHE ONEcrypto currency - there's no economic reason multiple cryptos can't exist competing with each other in perpetuity. We only see a lack of competition in currency markets due to the monopoly governments have on fiat.
Doesn't worry me at all, they legitimize Bitcoin and introduce it to the public. A lot of them will go outside of CME and end up buying the underlying asset. Hedge funds are hinting that they're gonna introduce Bitcoin in their portfolio following CME. It also makes an ETF approval much more likely next year.

And I agree, I'm not saying there will be ONE COIN that goes mainstream... but Bitcoin is most likelyone of thosecoins that will go mainstream and stay at the top. I don't want to gamble choosing the wrong coin... Bitcoin is a safe bet to me, so I put most of my resources on that. People don't realize how easily this thing can blow past $20K, it won't take that much, and we are getting more than enough from the developments happening
