I work in a hospital and those are cliche hollywood reasons for a child to be orphaned. The vast majority of the time its because the mother lived in a state where she had to jump through too many hoops to get an abortion, and didn't want the kid, or she was a junkie and and deemed unfit to have a kid.

and its not like foster homes are rare or house very few kids. Some of them in larger cities have as mant kids as a k-6 elementary school. If a gay/lesbian couple wants to adopt one of those kids then let them, its sure better than never having a parent at all.

Lmao there’s this thread that I think about quite often that still kills me, some horrible mother put her child in the dryer(awful) and kid died. But there was a thread on the misc about it and there was just post after post of jokes about the situation..pretty horrifying really, but misc has changed A LOT

It looks bad for someone to have same sex parents, they're most-likely going to get bullied if not picked on, but there's no studies actually proving same sex couples can't raise children just as well as heterosexual couples can. I think there's studies that say the opposite because same sex couples get along better.

My homo neighbors have a kid. It took them years and at least $10k to get one.

The kid they got was 5 years old and had been starved and beaten by his bio parents his entire life. He still hides food around the house and has major behavioral issues.

But really, having gay parents, that's just so unfair and wrong, right. Maybe you want this damaged child? Fukk outta here.

We all know that a two parent home consisting of a biological mother and father provides the best opportunity for children to thrive but the subject is orphans.
When it comes to orphans we're often speaking of children who have already experienced some type of abuse or trauma in their life.

I don't buy into the belief that a single mother or father can raise a child just as well as a hetero couple so I would be hard pressed to believe that a homosexual couple could do anymore better so the question becomes what's best for the child.

No home or a homosexual home?

I would have to go with a homosexual home but then again it's not my kid so I can only pretend to care so much.

Your post lacks fundamental understanding of the adoption process. Every set of parents that apply for adoption are thoroughly vetted and undergo extensive interviews with social workers. You can't even legally adopt a child until he/she has been living under your roof with close monitoring for an extended period of time. This applies to both straight and homosexual couples/singles. It's not the grocery store, you can't just go in and pick a kid without any investigation into your life and your ability to care for a child. They don't preferentially adopt children out to homosexual couples. If a homosexual couple was able to adopt a child, that's because they're the best option that child has.

But this is the misc where some people just **** out of their mouth without thinking.

while i do think a child is best suitted to be raised by a mother and father figure, having 2 parents is better than having 0

This is my only hesitation about the situation, but ultimately as the world changes and it becomes more common (through adoption, surrogacy etc) it will have less stigma attached to it.
