Armed private security or police officers and training teachers/staff is one option i'd go for. Stricter laws on AR yes. At least have a few licensed trained adults with access to a taser with proper yearly training. Don't even tell the teachers who's licensed in case is one of them lol. In Los Angeles there's on duty police officers stationed to the school. No gun violence reported as far as I remember going to school.

More police! More laws! More restrictions! Will make us safe?

Fear can make us give up all our rights. Thing is, the only thing for sure is it will only create a police state but still can't guarantee you'll be safe.

And to think people actually paid the ultimate sacrifice and give their lives for rights you are so quickly willing to casually give away. It would appear we've come full circle.

If I were a teacher I would certainly take whatever measures I could to protect myself and the kids I teach. You trust them with your kids education you should trust them with being a protector as well, all this inaction and gun free zone bullchit just allows crazies to run rampant rather than empowering the people who are most at risk of being caught in the middle of one of these events to actually do something about it.

Please discuss.
It is interesting that most of the gun violence happens in urban areas which are almost all heavily democratic/liberal in this country. It's also interesting that there are more guns per capita in rural areas yet less gun violence. Of course no liberal will ever recognize the logical conclusion behind those two facts.

If their goal is to go shoot up a school and there is armed security they'll either target said armed security first or will be deterred for fear of being killed before they can get started.

I agree teachers are too soft. Where I live middle/high schools have an actual police officer stationed at the school. These are veteran officers that get assigned to the school resource officer position. Its just expensive. Your looking at about 60K per year for an officer in a school here. Multiply that by an officer in every school.........

It happens mostly in minority/poor communities. Which is usually in democratic/liberal areas... School shootings is a very different animal from thug on thug violence though.

I'm neutral on this topic, I'm just saying there are other 1st world countries that have figured out how to not have kids slaughtered like animals when they're at school. Maybe we should see what they're doing that we currently aren't doing as part of a brainstorm.
Please name a 1st world country that compares in anyway to the USA. Our land mass is huge, our diversity is ridiculous, our population is massive, and we border a bunch of 3rd world countries that are among the most violent in the world.

England? An island nation, very homogeneous, smaller than Oregon, less population than Texas & California combined, borders no 3rd world chit holes.

Of course they always leave out the eastern block countries of Europe. The ones that are chitholes or border chitholes. Can't have them ruining the "peaceful europe" narrative.

The statistic listed is on "gun violence" not school shootings.

But if you want to talk about school shootings and/or mass shootings. Here is a fact:

You have a better chance of being struck by lightning twice than be involved in one.

Here is another fact:

All gun murders in the last 100 yearsworld wideare a drop in the bucket compared to the number of people murdered by their own government during the same time period. You are 30x more likely to get murdered by your government than some wackjob civilian with a gun.

The top 3 incident alone of government killings its own people equate to almost a quarter billion people. About 11,000 people die in the USA from gun homicides in recent times. So ... it would take roughly 22,727 years at that rate to equal murderous government in the 20th century.

What could go wrong with ensuring that the benevolent government has all the guns? I mean they're so trust worthy and honest... did you see how many bankers got locked up after the 2008 crash?

Having somebody pay to exercise their 2A is unconstitutional. You do know that concealed permit holders have a crime rate lower than that of cops, right? How are you going to get the gang members to do their psych evals? Won't people lie in psych evals?
How about this, people who are known to drink, from the social drinker up to the daily drinker, are forced to go get psych evals in order to operate a motor vehicle. Anybody who got caught talking/texting while driving must have their phones checked periodically for messages that were sent while driving.
Why stop there... we should make any person who follows the religion of Islam also submit to a psych test too. Since there have been 30,000+ islamic inspired attacks worldwide since 9/11, we must make our islamic citizens submit to evals because of the extremists and their wrongdoing. And since we are on the subject of having to pay to exercise our rights, if the cops come to your home and want to search it, you can pay them and then your 4th amendment right will kick in.

Hey DB, where in Texas are you located? I'm looking to move to Tyler in the next year or so. Konnecticut is a trash state, with trash representatives, with trash gun laws, high taxes, failing infrastructure, ect.

It's not a gun problem, and never will be a gun problem.
People have been killing eachother since the beginning of man, and it will continue until we're extinct.

Stop blaming guns for the actions of people.
