Check my post in this thread.

Aesthetics + hitting those milestones as a natty? Not a fkn chance.

You can only achieve aesthetics + 1 of those lifts out of 3. Anything and it requires you to hit bloatmaxxxxx territory of fugly.

A little delusional on both sides, those lifts are definitely achievable natty for someone with decent genetics, around 190 lbs or so and dedicated, but it is an exaggeration to call it common or standard for natties. A lot of guys don't have the genetics and/or dedication to hit those lifts, if you are truly natty and have a 3/4/5 total at sub 200 lbs be damn proud because it is an accomplishment, even if every natty on the misc reps it lol.

Life time natty and I'm telling you guys, it's doable.

Here I am 165lbs in 2016

squat 4 plates for 8 reps

bench 3 plates for 8 reps

deadlift 5 plates for 8 reps

Can lift more than that now and without sleeves or belt etc - misc has such low standards it's sad as f**k tbh.

I believe the main benefit of the big three is that they are training flexibility which pre-cludes the more fashionable and challenging clean and jerk type Oylimpic lifts, for which sheer size and strength alone are not enough by themselves. Anybody can inject the size and str, it is collagenous attenuation, synthesis of other hard to acquire tissue surface areas as cartilage and tendons that cannot be injected, must be trained to fruition gradually with no rushing or else injury, one good injury and it can be enough to set you back a lifetime. My recommendation is allow tendon and cartilage to grow first, build the knee and shoulder joints, the bone everywhere will shape to how it is used. Braces on teeth as example. The position of teeth is governed by external stresses. Braces apply those stresses and the result is the position of teeth- the bone- compensates from the stress. It didn't take that long did it? The first time baby walks the femur gets its big tendon attachment bone process as stress on the bone in that location pulls the femur. If you went to the moon and didn't exercise your bones would likely shrink at an alarming rate. All of this I am telling you now, reminding you, that the big 3 is a challenge to the bone of the body, it tries to make you thicker where it counts. All while allowing you to go deeper with power, more flexible and dangerous, ready to explode into a clean or other movements.

You joined the site in October 2005. If you've been trying for these lifts and haven't achieved them in 12 years and 6 months, I think you might need someone else to look over your training.

Alternately, you have faffed about randomly for a few months here and there, taken some months off, returned to faffing about, and so on - for more than a decade. That's alright, that's what most gym-goers have done, no shame in it, it's a lot better than spending the whole time drinking beer and watching NASCAR. But, "I was half-arsed with the powerlifts and didn't achieve much," well in that sentence the powerlifts are not the issue.

In defense of OP, I dropped everything for 3 months and just did bench and my numbers skyrocketed.

Then I started looking like all chest/chitty and went back to balanced compounds. my bench is about 2/3 of that bench specialization now but I look more athletic/aesthetic

You need to stop being a whiner and set realistic steps along the way, and you'll get there.
290 x 5 on a bench after 6 months is extremely good.

This is some fraud **** loochi. Or wtf is going on. 315 for 8 is roughly 390lbs for max bench. Average being bout 350 in IPF. The world record IPF 74kg is like 430ish with much bigger arch too. And I ****ing doubt IPF is as drug free as its claims to be.

You counting those weights correctly?

Please accept this and stop wasting years trying to be the exception. You aren't. These are hard lifts that tax your CNS to beyond what you can recover from, very quickly.

My advice is to lollygag on 90% of your training and go hard on the one or two lifts you really care about. I will bump this thread in a year and report my results. (It's a theory at the moment and it's only my opinion. Although I'm almost certainly right).
ITT OP attempts project his failures and disillusionment... but doesn't fool anyone.

is the 2/3 of your bench max still higher than prior to specialization?

No,no,no,no and no

I've been training 30 years. Never missed a week. Those lifts, for an average natty, who isn't fat, are utterly exceptional. Beyond rare. The number of 180 pounders ITT claiming to rep that is laughable.
At my strongest I got within half a plate of all 3, but weighed over 210 myself. i didn't want to wreck my health by getting even bigger, because those lifts in competition are nothing anyway (because of that which we can't talk about)..
The misc is the same with income, housing, cars, any other hobby.. yes, everyone is somehow in the top 0.01%. Remarkable. If you need the validation from people you will never meet, by making stuff up, go at it. If you believe any of this rubbish, you need to get out the house more.

You think that 'one should' be able to hit those lifts within 2 years? That the average lifter would? And you're saying that this is a troll thread? Are you aware that the average person doesn't really train at all and can barely do a few pushups, let alone bench? Don't even know why I waste my time with chit comments like yours that are just delusional.

For those who have a hard time reading: I'm not saying that the lift numbers that the OP thinks are permanently impossible to achieve. I'm saying that the average person will probably take more than 2 years to reach them. And that's fine, and of course this depends on your definition of 'average person'.

There is so much coping and bitterness in your post here. In order:

(i) If you have been training for 30 years and have a hard time repping the numbers in your OP then you are almost certainly doing something wrong. You claim 30 years of serious training - maybe you have absolutely dogchit genetics, but the numbers in your OP are not that extreme. And...30 years and never reached it? Sigh. Therefore everyone else cheats? I can't wait to reach those lifts (I'd guess another 1.5 years for me or so) and have people whining in the gym that I must be sipping OJ or else there's no way I could reach those numbers. Those tears will arouse me.

(ii) No, the Misc is not entirely full of posers. There are some people on here who are in the top 1% in one way or another (income, family wealth, genetics, lifts, some other way) - but what you're describing is a facet of the general population. But who was maxing out credit cards to live a life you can't afford to give the impression that you are something that you're not to people who don't give a chit about you either way?

Poor OP.

Evidence that you can do even one of those? Because your avi certainly doesn't look like it.

Calisthenics > lifting. Especially if you are natty. You can always master new progressions, more fun, can show off athletic feats anywhere rather than needing a barbell, really dependent on lean mass meaning you can't just bulk and lift more, gymnast physique is way more aesthetic and functional than that of a bodybuilder or powerlifter, more safe and less chance of injury/long term damage, dont need an expensive gym membership or a bunch of equipment taking up space at your home, can work out anywhere....i could go on.

source: have done both.

You get what you want to get and you lie to yourself because you're coping. What a surprise. When I write 'I'd guess' it doesn't mean I'd bet on it.

If you want to bet I'm your Huckleberry but I'm not sure actually betting cash is allowed on this forum (I doubt it). But they'd be my terms, not yours, coper.
