Completely agreed. What she did was absolutely badass but with her background I can’t I’m surprised she did this so calmly. She’s still a badass either way and saved many lives that day.

One of my engineering professors in college (taught mechanics of materials), worked for NASA. He mentioned that if the everyday person actual saw the outside condition of the planes that are up in the air everyday they would never fly again. It just isn't economical to make sure every single plane is pristine every time they hit the air. I can see how the issue was missed.

I used to work with Avro RJ85 and also be a passenger every now and then. It would look a bit dodgy when on the ground but does it have a smooth landing! Cannot even tell when the gear hits the ground, old plane but still does its job

Im not taking anything away from her. I would have had that sum b*tch in a fiery pile...With that said dont airline pilots repetitiously practice losing an engine and cabin pressure in simulators and on training flights? In addition dont they have to certify via a trainer that they can handle these types of situations...

I understand being called a hero if you have a catastrophic incident and manage to land safely (a spin and recover/all engines fail/landing gear doesnt come down) but this seems to fall into a category of "expected recovery".

I havent followed this story very closely so am I missing something? (srs)...
