You lock up the king of the jungle and treat him like a circus animal for everyone's entertainment and you are surprised when he attacks when his "owner" steps foot in HIS cage? Who was crying for the lion when he was taken from his family? Who was crying for the lion when he was treated as mere entertainment for silly humans? But now they want to cry for their stupid human when he intrudes on the lions' new home. This is no better than slavery. Leave the animals to their own habitat. This is why I hate zoo's and have never been to a zoo, srs. In senior year of highschool in Bio 2 class we had to go to a zoo. I refused and failed that project. The F was worth it. I'd rather fail that project than see these great beings we call "animals" be treated with utter disrespect and be treated as mere entertainment for such a stupid race called humans.

He knows the potential risk for both he and the animals he cares about. You do realize that enclosures have separate feeding areas that lock the animal away from the rest of the space, right? Imagine putting the lion into that space and inspecting what he went for the first time.

1. Lions do not live in the jungle

2. Almost all captive lions are captive-bred for multiple generations

3. Animals are not people and do not process captivity the same way we do. Most are entirely consumed by their instinctual desire to eat and breed. That is the limit of their self actualization.

4. Big cats live twice as long in captivity as they do in the wild. Meanwhile, most of us are wagecels who will die prematurely of heart disease or cancer.

5. Looking are current trends, almost all large predators will eventually disappear from the wild. If we do not maintain diverse captive bloodlines now, we will lose them forever with no hope of repopulation.

6. People are not motivated by photos and video alone. They need to see animals in person before they will commit resources to help their cause.

Brainless mother fukers ITT I swear, can't fuking read and prone to knee jerk reaction. I swear you *******s are worse than women.

First of all, the old guy is the owner of the animal conservation project. Also the place is open to public and patrons stay overnight in tents.

Secondly, the article stated the old guy went in to investigate a smell that was irritating the lion, hence the first guy trying to distract the lion. Of course they can use tranquilizers but you idiots don't realize you can't just up and shoot an animal with tranquilizers whenever you please. There s the issue of drug resistance due to repeated use, and tranquilizers don't work immediately, and right after being shot with a dart the lion might react very aggressive and seeing how low the enclosure is, he could jump over that in a heartbeat and the result will be disastrous. It's likely they're trying to keep the lion calm and not freak it out. There is also the matter of right dosage of tranquilizers or you risk overdosing the animal which might lead to death.

Yeah the guy shouldn't have been fuking around with apex predators but note that hed been around them for years, and big cats are in fact quite calm around people they know, and the stupidity of his action is no bigger than a bunch of FA retards putting chemicals in their ass cheeks trying to look big. It's stupid, but saying the guy deserves to die makes you an anus puckering bitch who likes to say heavy handed things to pretend you have an actual personality. The fuk outta here with that shyt.

I was dissing the old guy too when I first saw the vid on ******** without any context, but seeing as we are now provided with the proper context and information to understand the situation fully and still calling for the guy's death is retarded. He probably does more for those animals than you idiots ever will.
