I don’t know if what they say actually happens at BUDS but I’ve never been there. I’ve been to SERE for my current job and it did suck, but not what I thought it was going to be.
I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people. Thank you.

There is no superior special operations in the world in terms of cohesiveness than the American units. MARSOC, AFSOC, SEALs, Rangers, Green Berets... then you have Delta that cherry picks the best from each unit.

Wrong, the SAS actually train US special forces.

Green berets and SEALs aren’t even a tier 1 unit like SAS/SBS/SASR. Only Devgru and delta are actual tier 1 units and even then they are based off the SAS.

Not saying us special forces are bad, quite the contrary because they definitely are among the best forces but the SAS/SBS are the cream of the crop.

Went through the Army basic training. That was bad enough and no way I would ever sign up do that again... BUDS is on a whole new level of hell though. Lack of sleep is no joke, you may think it's easy while sitting in front of a computer but it will kick your ass hard in real world. You ain't getting coffee, energy drinks, sugar or any form of caffeine whatsoever, all you get is water and hand sanitizer which we had people sniff through their nose so the burn would keep their eyes from closing. You get 2 minutes to eat your food, after which they smoke the **** out of you so all that turns into a puke. And of course constant screaming and yelling, and forcing you to do all kinds of weird **** nonstop. And unlike basic training, they are not going to let you squeeze through the BUDS. If they don't like your performance they'll kick you out in a heartbeat. Fuk that

RASP is leagues easier than Ranger School. You sleep 8-12 hours a day, eat a ton, formation at 0615 and are usually released by 1600 to do whatever in the brown fence or outside when you get to phase 2. You only do two 'FTX' events for 4 1/2 days. Cole Range in week 2 which is practice land nav and then the real Cole Range where you play reindeer games with the wood line all day in week 4. Ranger School is an actual school so you don't get PTed as much but you're constantly miserable, hungry and sleep deprived while hauling an 80lb ruck and having to pull security in a patrol base hallucinating all night.


RASP isn't even hard. You just deal with an enormous amount of BS. More people get dropped for BS like contraband, sleeping, failing land nav, peer or some integrity violation than quitting. A few fail the RPFT. Hell, last RASP class NO ONE quit at Cole Range. Last class had 100 or so come out of Cole Range and is graduating 90 something this week. The one before that had 89 graduate. The one before that one was 80. RASP is what you think infantry basic training would've been like as a civi. If you can score a 270 PT, you can pass RASP. It's all about heart.


The real test is surviving in Ranger Regiment through training rotations and deployments as an untabbed private and making it to NCO without getting RFS'ed. 40 something percent of guys in Ranger Regiment fail Ranger School BTW. They get RFSed shortly after usually.


If you look at the attrition rate in BUD/s which hovers around 80%, almost all of it is from quitting rather than being forced to drop.

I'm curious how many people go to seal training with a ... "I'll give it a shot" mentality vs. "I've been wanting this my whole life" ... and which have a better survival rate. I'm also curious if the instructors have a really good sense right of the bat who's likely to quit.

What makes you say that? Legit...

I know several people that went to tier 1 schools from various branches. Almost all were athletic freaks and mentally disciplined. I would say at least half failed due to medical reasons. Granted we don't know how many would have made it if they didn't get hurt/sick, but you get the idea.
you dont have a clue what you are talking about. admission requirements into BUDs is easy and passing the fitness test is easily attainable with a few months of training. most of the drop outs are not medical related; most dont want to deal with the training and ring the bell.

Still, no human is immortal. Training definitely matters but it's always going to come down to human vs human in a combat scenario. Maybe one day the SAS and american SF will meet in battle. Lots of brits on here seem to want that lol.
