Larry's strength has exploded over the past 2 years. I knew this was the vid when I saw the tread title. He has mentioned a few times he plans on trying strongman in a few years after his body matures.

"After his body matures"

What does this mean exactly, and what is the benefit to a body maturing?

Cancel that. I am impressed at the gym by anyone DOING a barbell OHP.

Crazy thing is he was still absolutely shredded at 275, he literally has god mode genetics for building muscle and strength. He could also probably be an Olympia line up bodybuilder, if it weren't for his bad arm insertions

He could do anything strength or bodybuilding related, I'd like to see him stick with the powerlifting though he is only tapping into his potential and could easily set ridiculous totals that remain records for decades after he retires. Strongman events tend to suit the big 6'8 frames more but I have no doubt he could win WSM just off shear static strength, and the fact he is c. 140 lbs lighter than the other top guys

If you watch, nearly most strongman hit their peaks ate late 20's. I don't know the reason. Most likely just because it takes that long to build the muscle/mass to compete at that level. Larry would definitely need to get near 300lbs to compete in WSM.

He's like Klokov. He would excel in any type of strength/physique related event. He will definitely need more body mass for WSM however. I definitely think he could do it.

I think his genetics are a tier above anyone I've ever seen, Klokov, Lilliebridges etc included. Another 40 lbs roughly would definitely go a long way, in some of the carrying/pulling events but he would still have a cardio advantage over the big boys. At 300 lbs you would have to think he would beat out Thor and Shaw in terms of static strength, maybe even Eddie Hall if he comes back to his best

I wouldn't go that far. Thor and Shaw are at the very top of the game. Larry has a long way to go to compete with them. I wouldn't say he has a cardio advantage either. These guys train specifically for cardio strength endurance. Guys like Thor, Shaw and Eddie are squatting in the 900s and pulling 1k.

I would definitely agree his genetics are at the top of the chain, but gym strength is completely different from strongman strength. Not at all saying he can't do it, but he won't be able to just jump in and compete for the top year one or two.

Genetics + work ethic + juice makes for one hell of a display of power.

I had just watched the vid before I saw this thread and knew it was about LW before I even checked.

As far as elite strong man potential, think the black Mariusz Pudzianowski. Not the tallest and unusually shredded for strongman but still dominant.

Yeh I was thinking in terms of the big 3, surely Larry at 300 lbs would be the best in the world, could only see Eddie matching him.

In comparison to this OHP, Eddie did a 216kg world record overhead with an axel but that's with leg drive. Larry would probably struggle with the clean aspect right now but pushing it overhead he can't be far off

Not even lb for lb. He has a stronger bench flat out. The most I've seen Eddie do is 500 for 6. If by big E, you mean Lilliebridge, he crushes him as well. I believe Larry's best gym bench was 620lbs. Larry is just a mutant. No other way to put it.

Yeah can agree there. Either way I would like to see Larry transition just to see what he can do. He has two records in 2 weight classes right now...... my guess is that he may try to break some 308 records then go into Strongman if he was serious about it.

A lot of people are stronger lb for lb, that's not really what strongman is about. When you weigh 400lbs, lb for lb doesn't really matter.

@Juggernaught - not quite, eddie hall has benched 660.

Wayyy stronger. Those guys are 400 lbs + and I doubt their benches are even on par with Larry. Obviously limb length on Thor and Shaw hold them back though

Here's Eddie (the strongest strongman in terms of big 3 lifts) hitting 575 for 2, albeit with sloppy form and he probably had more in the tank
