Most everyone I wanted at my wedding was there, and I didn't even invite 200. I think like 120-130 showed up. You'll probably have to invite 400 or more to get 300 in attendance, depending on the time of year.
Gonna be inviting randoms, your coworkers, your neighbors, your mailman, etc etc

It really is for the family at some point. My grandmother will chit a three ton brick if I don't have at least 300 people there and she's the one picking up the tab so idgaf.

Either way, makes zero sense that the masses buy into this you have to celebrate thing.
They said she's gone too far this time

My wife and I would have been fine with a small wedding but we basically had to invite everyone because a fukk ton would have been offended if we didnt invite them. They did well with all the planning because it wasn't a painful experience at all.

I have never wanted a wedding, always thought I’d just get married with no wedding. But recently found out parents do not feel the same way. 30k in CA is already cutting all kinds of corners. Don’t understand why anyone would have a wedding given... how do you justify that price tag?

She was 25 and in Indian culture that's fukking pushing it, my grandmother basically paid her to get married and start having babies pronto.
That's not the norm, though. My grandmother is insane. She's been married 4 times to different rich guys, she's one of those women you see on the ID channel, I am half convinced she murdered them all for their money.
But generally speaking yeah, you do get a lot of gifts and cash at Indian weddings if have rich friends.
