I used to work security, and had 'scuffles' with people (I've been even been bitten), only on 2 occasions have I encounter 'sharps'. Most people just want to fight to run away, not to fight to seriously hurt you, IME.

They would use weapons and/or numbers to deal with people like that.

In the UK, Taser weapons are popular, along with police batons.

I honestly just think those women in the vid were clearsly severely undertrained and weak.
Yeah IDK about the UK maybe things are different out there.

But I can say for my own experiences, I just got arrested a few weeks ago man. It was literally 7 cops surrounding the area in front of my house, and I had already surrendered. I walked out the door like a retard and I didn't even have my gun on me, and I legit heard the dude shine a bright light at me and tell me to turn around immediately with my hands up. They had their guns drawn lol. They ordered me to walk backwards out of my garage with my hands up in the air, get on my knees, put hands on back of head. Then, they came and cuffed me and searched me. Thankfully, they took me straight to the hospital and didn't charge me with anything.

If I had made any sudden movements or if I had come out with my gun in hand acting aggressively, tour would have been fuking over.

Those are 2 examples where diversity is a strength.

Also, I've been researching and it seems that a lot of geniuses were polymaths in their personal lives, even if professionally they were only known for one thing.

It's not about a foolproof method, just like the batons and tasers aren't foolproof...but it does give someone and their partner a fighting chance in a violent encounter.

If I'm a cop and my partner has been taken down to the ground by a guy with a knife then I'd hope I know grappling srs

Wincel will go "b-b-b-bbbbut that guy in the video is good and cops won't have the time or resources to get good" well the cops I trained with were good (on their own time and money btw because UK police dept provide 0 training)

And btw if grappling against criminals is a bad idea then why are there literally millions of videos of UK police pinning suspects and putting cuffs on them???? That's grappling is it not? Why wouldn't you want to be able to do that as safely, quickly and effectively as possible? Not only for the public who are at risk but the fellow officers.
They really don't have the money to train people to a high level of proficiency in BJJ or other hand to hand techniques. The rewards do not outweigh the costs. That's why they don't. Seriously, think about it. Wouldn't they make it mandatory training if it were that crucial and beneficial? Unarmed expert vs armed knife novice who wants to kill you still loses majority of the time btw. As the dude earlier said, you are basically GOING to get cut if the guy is within about 10 ft of you. The scenarios you are talking about are extremely contrived. In a real world scenario, if a dude has a knife, you put as much distance between yourself and them, and your backup shoots them. Drawing a knife on a police officer is already assault with a deadly weapon, so it justifies any force necessary to neutralize.

OK... But that doesn't explain why you think think that BJJ is - in your words - practically useless in a combat situation?

Knife defence can be incorporated into BJJ.
I mean instead of spending a ton on BJJ classes, they could just arm them with spray or tasers.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm under no illusion that knife defence is easy, or can be like a Hollywood movie.

I wish Karl Tanswell still taught this program (I don't think he does), based on the Greco Roman clinch...

You don't need a high level of training. This discussion was about restraining unarmed criminals...you introduced knives...my point is it's better knowing something than nothing. And imo for restraining people BJJ and Grappling training is a NECESSITY. Just because people may have knives actually makes it MORE of a necessity to prevent officers getting stabbed when restraining someone they didn't know had a knife.

Yes I did almost post the Dan Inosanto 21 foot rule but you would move the goal posts again and no doubt we'd be looking at "but nothing can protect against Knives so why even bother learning ANY martial art?????"

N btw cops in the UK (the video we are talking about) don't have guns so I don't know why you are bringing up shooting criminals (moving the goal posts again?)

They have these, and it is definitely helpful, but it probably doesn't justify the cost. I'm pretty sure police get some training in defense from knife attacks. But it's not supposed to get to that stage, and realistically, if it does, you are probably fuked.

It is better to know something rather than nothing. BJJ, knife defense, etc are all very helpful. But they are expensive. I am saying like they should just arm the officers with sprays and tasers. I was speaking more generally about cops. If we are speaking specifically about the UK, maybe grappling is more important, but I still don't see why they can't just have a simple can of pepper spray. It would honestly completely neutralize situations like this. Rather than attempt to grapple with a non-compliant suspect, they could just spray him, tackle him, and cuff him.

Phuck me Wincel!

Please, don't try that again!

Dude, look, I know you and I have had our little debates (and tbh I enjoy them because I honestly respect your intellect), and I know I've expressed in the past fear that you were going down Supreme Gentlemen territory, but brah...

Things can get better.

Your psychology can get better.

That part of you that may say things like; "This stuff they are teaching me about self worth/meaning/thought challenging is BS" "Why bother?" "Why I am like this?" is a phuckin Gremlin trying to keep you isolated and in despair. Please ignore that phucker, and continue looking for better days.

Excellent stuff

Even in the video I posted up there with Jon Fitch even the 2 on 1 wrist control is something powerful

Yeah that an aikido type chit works. I used a wrist lock on someone who had a broken bottle.

I guess my main question is if BJJ is so beneficial to UK cops, why don't they train them? Don't you think they looked at the costs and benefits and concluded it wasn't worth it?

Also, if you are a 105 lb woman facing off against a 220 lb man, chances are good you won't win even if you are highly trained in BJJ. Honestly, it's just straight up better to have spray.

Which brings me to my next question. Why the fuk don't UK cops have spray or tasers...or fuking anything?

Those cops didn't have anything at all. If the guy were aggressive, they would have both died.

Yep, that is a situation I was in when I did security.

Dude began going apechit after myself and a colleague were walking him back to the store. Thankfully, we were experienced enough that we immediately took hold of an arms and wrist each, when we caught up to him.

Like I said, walking back he began to go apechit, and we both immediately dropped him to the floor. I stayed in back mount whilst he was face down, until the police showed up.

As the police searched him, they found a Stanley Knife in his back pocket.

Phucker could have cut me and my friend up like ribbons. The hold we had him in, made it easy to drop him with the 2 of us (despite him being a bigger and stronger than us).

I was told they have 1 day of training for Tasers, pepper spray, cuffing and restraining. Yes that's right...1 day for all of that lol

Tbh I think financially in the UK they don't have the money for public services and that's what it comes down to. I think the ability to restrain people is fundamental to someone being a police officer but I think like in other lines of work people shirk the work needed to perform their job well, perhaps many officers simply do it for the pay cheque and don't care enough about the realities of their job (like many other jobs) Also being a police officer in the UK is quite frankly a last resort for many people.

I have trained with bouncers and security who took their jobs INCREDIBLY seriously, however they didn't have access to batons and sprays which I think fills the UK police force with false confidence so they never feel the need to develop their skills. Take away the batons and sprays etc and I'd imagine police officers in the UK would start honing their entire skillset

I think these sloot cops in particular also just sucked and didn't follow their own protocol. They must have had something like spray, baton, or a taser. They just stood there helpless, crying. I suppose they don't see crime as a huge issue in the UK and don't spend money on it. I'd imagine if they don't arm their police, that it would be more important to train them in the use of nonlethal weapons or in BJJ or krav maga or some chit (I still think a 105 lb woman has a very poor chance of subduing a decent sized, aggressive man regardless of training.)

That's scary man

Stuff like knowing how to hold back mount really does save lives in these job roles

Bet that was the last day of security you worked!

iirc she tries to spray him from behind but as he's got her partner wrapped up she can't. I'd imagine she didn't use the spray as it would get in her partners airways/eyes which would reduce them to a team of 1, another reason to learn grappling so the female partner can create space or an angle for her partner to administer the spray/baton

N yeah a woman that size does have a bad chance...but if you have 2 x 105lb women trained in restraining it's still much better and imo could work...but 105lb women should not be paired up, it's absolute lunacy and dangerous to the public

This as well. I been a cop quite a few yrs. ive drawn my gun alot (i work in a high crime city in one of the worst areas no never shot). But ive never drawn my pepper spray and my baton once. (Im not taser trained due to its just extra weight that to me doesnt reflect benefit). And most situations u come across dont justify anything above hard hand techniques l (fist, kicks restrain etc) so alot of officers i kno are clueless when they dont have compliance or when they person is actually fighting. Alot becoming too focused on their tools as opposed to actual fighting. Which is why i practice striking and bjj.

yea I watched the video again, and it looks like spray wouldn't have worked there after he grabbed the other girl. Just lmao at the cop letting the guy approach the other girl and knock her down. What the actual fuk are these people doing? The first girl should have drawn spray and sprayed him as he was approaching.
