For me the reason is I don't want to leave them with sad memories of my suffering and pain.

The part about your wife really hit me.
Gf and I were talking and she mentioned it's sad that were most likely not going to be able to grow old with each other.

Sorry for you man. I can honestly feel your pain.

Says it's my only realistic shot rn at a durable remission and life span.
Hate the idea. Bmt has a 40% mortality rate.

To add onto the **** news, my insurance lapsed 1month from when I switched Obamacare to my work insurance and my medical bill from that is over 45k.
Unreal. Add it to the 50k+ plus already going to collections.

I literally had the perfect life before this cancer ****. Now I have "a" life.

Seems like everything is starting to stack against me and it's really hard to stay positive. I've called out a work the last day and have barely got off the couch. Have zero motivation for the gym.
And I literally can't stand the way I look when I look into a mirror. Some days it makes me ****ing cry. I cant stand to look at.my.own avatar on here bc I'll never look that good ever again.
I'm basically demoralized and defeated. So tired of all of this
This is a cancer that 95% of people get cured from, so why is it me in that 5%

I can never let my family or gf find out this is how I really feel.
Keep fighting bro. I was diagnosed with HL last year and did the same chemo as you. Did it for 6 months. I had a tumor so large in my chest that it collapsed my lung. That's how they found it. Chemo is the ****ing devil. I wouldn't wish that **** on my worst enemy. I felt exactly how you feel. but I've been clear for a few months now and I've been back to the gym. I feel pretty good most days. Message me if you need someone to talk to that can relate.

Also contact whoever the bills are coming from, and they will work with you. I got my balance lowered. Had to fill out a few forms.

I can understand in a sense not wanting to burden your family and GF, but you really should be honest about your feelings on this with them. I promise you, they want to know, even if it's hard for them. We are socially trained to put our best face forward, but you can't be strong 100% of the time. Let the people who love you take some of the weight of your feelings.

Cot dam it all!

I wholeheartedly agree with the go fund me account to help pay your medical bills. I don't know about you or your beliefs but I am a 100% believer in Christ. I will pray for you brother. Maybe you can shoot me a PM to give me your name if you're comfortable enough to do that. It helps to know who I'm praying for by name.

I've thought about it before. But i feel like im so far gone with all the bills, that ill never catch up or be able to keep pace.
I know an allogeneic transplant is somewhere upwards of $2mill.

On one hand, id love to pay these bills and stop getting harrassed by debt collectors, on the other, Its looking like im not really going to live all that long enough to where its worth accepting peoples hard earned money and using it to pay medical bills.

I've never been 1 to ask people for help, ive always been extremely independant. Even in my situation now, i still dont feel comfortable swallowing my pride and asking for help. Which is ironic bc I convinced a co-worker to start a go-fund me for her neurological issues/doctors bills, and I donated $75 into it. Like wtf am i doing?

We're all adults here, and can decide what we want to do with our hard earned money.

There are plenty of people here who would like to at least try to help in any small way we can.

Just registered.

If one registers, is there a way that they can tell the registry that there is somebody specific they want to donate to?

If so, I am happy to test for OP and give if possible.

It's based off of HLA markers and genetics. So it's rare to ever be a match with someone other than relatives

I will get my swab kit in the mail, and I'm not sure what the process is beyond that.

But if there is a way I can find out if we are a match let me know. PM me and I can give you any information you might need from me.

Hey,

It's been a while since I checked in on this thread but I saw your post about bills. Have you spoken with an accountant about deducting your paid bills from your taxes? It's not much but it's something.

Also, the literature is iffy but can people in remission from other cancers (non-heme) be donors themselves?

My FIL is terminal with mouth/throat cancer. The worst part is that TWO doctors from cancer treatment centers in both Atlanta and Houston told him in Jan of 2018, when he was diagnosed, that he would be telling his family, "hey, you remember that time I had cancer?" at Christmas dinner. TWO ****ing centers told him that. As of 2 months ago he's terminal and not expected to make it to the end of the year. He keeps his head up as high as he can, but I'm sure it's tough. Another family friend was given 6 months to live and made it 8 years. 8 years of a good life by making the most of it.

Cancer ****ing sucks, man, but don't give up on yourself. Don't listen to bullchit and just take it day by day. Let us help you homie.

The misc is full of jokes, vulgar humor and everyone calling each other a *******, but in this thread people are offering to do the bone marrow transplant. Fuk that cuts deep brah

Two years ago i was a cocky, selfish, self-absorbed ass.
I lost everything. My muscles, my confidence, my health, my job, my friends, my hair. All that was left was for me to put myself back together.

Now, id like to think that im somewhat of a role model to some [including coworkers]. So i try to put my best foot forward and be as positive giving and patient as possible. Ive started donating, doing charity work, just trying to help put a smile on anyones face i come across.

You never know what someone is going through. And everyone in life just wants to feel cared for and happy. Just trying to help others feel that.

Sometimes we cant control whats happening in our lives, but we can control how we treat others.

Much love. Thank you all for being with me on this journey.

God bless, and long live the misc
I believe you helped afew dickheads here on their way to maturity with just this thread alone. I know it did for me.. You're in my hopes

Dennis, if you still have a social worker around, can you get a therapist referral? Totally get not wanting to talk through these feelings with your parents or girlfriend.
In on this! I would totally donate to help you Dennis!

Also great advice at seeing a therapist.

I'm so sorry to read your update.I can't even fathom my son going through this. Just stay strong and try to think positive! You are in my thoughts and prayers and let us help you. We want to.

any update OP? BMT date?

also its sad to see you talks with a "defeated" tone now... its not over untill its over, BMT is ofcourse a risky move but alot of things are. from the little i know, with remission BMT got VERY hightly chances to success. im sure you go throught very very bad times right now but its not the time to lose hope. watch the "50/50" movie to cheer up.

about the money i can really never understand this chit. wtf is wrong with america? in like 99% of the western countries you pay nothing or like max 100$/month for stuff like that. its really mind blowing how america works...
i got IBD, i take a med that cost +-45K$/year, and i pay for it +-900$/year. (insurance is like 650$/year.) i thought about studying in america but when i realized how much i will have to pay for my meds i just said fuk it....
i really hope one day america will have a good health system for non-rich people.

good luck op and keep us updated.

I've got a consultation tomorrow with BMT doctor. Know a few other lymphoma patients who say hes very highly regarded. So Its relieving.

Mentally I'm stuck in a place where I still cant wrap my head around everything's that's happened. It hurts me so much to see my mother and gf struggle with it.
And just thinking of it makes me cry.

Easy to say "dont think about it"
But how are you supposed to sit and smile at the person you love when we're only delaying the inevitable?
Statistically, I've got an 8-30month life expectancy from here.
Why me. I was so healthy!

I feel like such a burden on my family all the time, I cant even take solace in work because if I do the BMT, I'll most likely never return to my job due to too much exposure.

My mind is all over the place. But it's only running over all the negatives.
