You are trying to make it sound like only getting vaccines involves a risk and not doing so doesn't. the scientist in me at this point needs an answer for that phenomenon to be explained. Someone needs to explain why there is so much overwhelming anecdotal evidence for these. That was only one example of a whole mountain of such examples and stories.

I don't think vaccines "cause" autism. However the vaccine schedule has been greatly increased and as the number of vaccines have increased so have the number of children diagnosed as autistic. Correlation doesn't equal causation, but:

“Growing evidence suggests that autism arises from interactions between a child’s genes and the environment. This study measured factors that may control interactions between genes and the environment, especially the microbiome,” said Dr. Hicks.

To me this sounds like there is a possibility that some children have the genes and perhaps something in vaccines is the trigger environment.

There are actual lab tests (very new) which are about 85% effective for diagnosing autism (or at least the genetic predisposition). Interestingly as far as I can tell they are only being used from 18 months up.

So would it be so nuts to choose to NOT VACCINATE your child until they are over 18 months old? To instead just take a chance on isolating them from disease during that time? As in maybe babies shouldn't be in a daycare facility with older children, but should be kept at home or in babies only child care?

Or maybe if the whole vaccine schedule could be slowed way down? Or, if there is a single ingredient problem maybe we could eliminate that from vaccines?

Says the problem in vaccines is aluminum:

This is an interesting chunk from farther down in the link about the theory that autism is a type of immunity dis-regulation and that immune activation in the mother while the baby is in utero may be what sets up a child to be susceptible:

The “patches of disorganization” paper is actually further evidence implicating immune activation and therefore vaccines. Immune activation experiments have shown that immune activation/cytokines causes disruption of neuron layers. So a vaccine could definitely do this. I believe that autism-associated differences in the prenatal period are simply indicators that the baby is particularly susceptible to immune activation injury. Immune activation works like this: each time there is an activation event, the immune system becomes more sensitive and reactive to immune stimulus. So, an activation “hit” during gestation can render the baby more susceptible to immune activation injury postnatally. This increased reactivity is known to occur with microglia in the brain (microglia are immune cells in the brain). its called “microglial priming”. Once microglia are primed by immune activation, they become hyperreactive for a long time, perhaps a lifetime.
