I constantly see you guys talking about the majority of college students getting useless degrees. That isn’t the case. The overwhelming majority of people are in STEM or business, which are somewhat employable after graduating.

Good luck affording a $150k mortgage on $40k a year. I have 120k financed on mine and with insurance/taxes it comes out to 1200 a month. At 40k a year you're barely clearing $600/week. That's half or more of your net income just going to housing and leaves you with ~$1200 for all other expenses. Not taking the millenials side here, just correcting this statement.

Chicago is on the cheaper end of the spectrum. Texas seems like a good place.

In my area 400k gets you a small fixer upper. Moving to a low cost of living area means taking a huge paycut, and losing a lot of career advancement potential. Big companies that require my skill set do not employ in small towns in the middle of nowhere. This is true for a lot of peope with specialized/ "useful" degrees.

What unicorn of a job is this? All of the "right out of college" jobs are entry level "just a hair above minimum wage" tech and clerking jobs and certainly not a livable wage.

Plenty. I'm riding the light rail right now and looking at an advertisement trying to hire mechanics at $32.07/hour. You don't advertise on a train if you have plenty of qualified applicants. Also hiring bus drivers at $24.57/hour.

Can you go to college, take on student loan debt, graduate, get hired for one of those $24/hr jobs and be able to have a mortgage and a family and car payments like a boomer would have been able to (except in his case he wouldn't have even needed a college degree)

You could do none of those and get these jobs. 24/hr can buy you a house and support a family if you're financially smart.

Going to college is a choice. Taking student loans is a choice. Buying a car in payments is a choice. Sorry you're disappointed with your life choices.
