It was most likely an oversight from the show writers. Or not, who knows.
Thing is she definitely cares about her kid.

Plus - guess they super-botched it - she says "our boy", ... only solution is she aborted and they found out the gender ... yuck
Maybe that scene is a good example that they also fuked up a lot in the prior seasons, but we had too little reference to know/care at that point.
I bet if people would re-watch the other seasons with the same criticism they'd find a lot of issues that they didn't notice back then.

I went back and watched the last ep again. I hated how they robbed us with the cut away when Jon/Bran were going to reveal his back history to Arya/Sansa. Not enough time? Lack of writing? Fuk off mates.
It's pretty funny how many people are finally jumping ship now after all the defending they have done in this thread not 2 eps ago. I freaking knew it!. There was no way in hell they would have enough time to explain everything but I figured they would've at least diverged into the more interesting/unknown aspects of the story.
There's 2 freaking episodes left. We all know the next episode will be dedicated to taking kings landing back, killing Cersai off, Hound vs Mountain battle and killing a few more cast members off. Not even a plot twist can save GoT.
Something tells me they didn't want to go into detail about the Lord of the light, NK, etc because they are saving all that **** for the new GoT series.

I am honestly so done with scrutinizing the details of these episodes, that went out the window with the endless glaring issues in The Long Night. It's time to sit back and just enjoy the ride for what it is: a hugely-rushed story that will never live up to the expectations set in Seasons 1-5ish
Rhaegal's death hit me fukn hard, it legitimately made me angry af. I don't feel inclined to ask why this or why that, it brought out emotion and that's something I found totally absent in The Long Night. At this point, I'm just glad they're doing something that elicits an emotional response at all. If they kill Euron in some satisfying way next episode, I'm not questioning the strategy or logic behind it. I'll fukn enjoy that Euron dies and that's that. If the "good guys" lose even more, I'll be equally pissed @ the "bad guys"
I was already lamenting returning to the political squabbles after the NK's underwhelming climax, so I don't feel there's much to lose in just enjoying what remains

I'm ready to see it wrap and I've certainly stuck with lesser shows (Sons of Anarchy) just to see them end, but as much as I was willing to push through Ep3, the utter nonsense about Euron in Ep4 really bothers me. Just so ridiculous and nonsensical, the more you think about it the more absurd it gets. A fleet of ships ambushing a pair of dragons flying in the air, catching utterly off guard, firing from the rocky seas to a moving target with deadly repeated accuracy, it just really fell flat.
What's more, the second the plot wants the remaining dragon to be useful, all that broken internal logic they established will simply be ignored, because we will see Drogon burn Euron alive and as satisfying as that should be, I'm concerned I'm just out of fuks to give.

Makes me think that Sansa will be one of the most substantial players in GOT.
Arguably... Sansa considers about other's motivations, none of the Stark men do, they only think about what is the right thing to do.

Sansa is the worst forced character development in the series, one minute she is getting rag dolled by Ramsay, which she agrees to marry in the first place, the next she is "outsmarting" Littlefinger, then **** talking the most powerful leader the world has seen since Argon, who is actually saving her. But put some leather on the inside of those breastplates, Lord Royce, because not like the Vale fights in snow and ice the entire time.
It would have been better if they bypassed her character, give her Winterfall and keep her out of the main events, like Robin and Dorne
No way to cut it, still can't get over the fact they put the long night before Kingslanding.

The viewers have seen that story 4 times now. When Sam read the book, when professor BranX showed us the whole scene telepathically, when they revealed it to Jon, and when Jon revealed it to Daenerys.

Go watch Billions... or Vikings... or OA... or Travelers... or Spartacus... Counterpart... Breaking Bad... The Wire...
Every one of them has been MILES better than the last 3 seasons of GoT.
These ****s should have never taken on the project if they weren’t up to the task of doing the ending justice. And GRRM should have never let them do it without making sure that they wouldn’t butcher it (guess he just wanted dem dollahs tho so I can’t blame him).

I think you're being overly critical of the drop off. I read the books between S1 and S2 for GOT and it was a great series. I have always kept my expectations for TV or film different than literature bc the translation is near impossible. Meeting everyone's expectations for a book to TV series is not doable no matter who is the director or author. D&D attempted the first 8 season long high fantasy political drama I've ever heard of and have done a very good job overall imo. I think the last 2 seasons are well above average TV and the first 6 are amazing. In my estimation it is not possible to finish this series without a full 10 to 11 year run without any budget limitations. That's not how the real world works. While HBO wanted 10 years but they weren't giving out a blank check.
Has anyone with major complaints ever bothered to complain to GRRM as it's his fault the showrunners aren't meeting his level of writing? Someone also needs to explain how the genius creator himself can't find the time or energy to finish a 7 book series he started outlining in 1991.

I could understand if he said "Dany didn't expect ballistae mounted on ships and Euron firing at her" (plausible, why would she) instead, but he didn't.
Euron already fukd them over several times (Yara, Casterly Rock), and she also knew that he brought the Golden Company, he was a major pain in the ass.

There’s that scene in the war room where she’s the only one saying they should heal and regroup before heading south. And then Dany asks Sansa how long they should wait. Sansa says she’ll have to ask the officers what they think. That is such a stark contrast to how both Dany and Jon operate. Sitting back and asking those who know more and not blindly rushing into things. And I really think they added that little line of dialogue on purpose to illustrate how she’s a different type of ruler.

I get and acknowledge all of those points I just choose to appreciate what I am getting as I can only put two other shows in GOT's class (Wire and Breaking Bad).We - ppl who are criticizing the writing - have acknowledged and accepted the budget restraints (which have been there since day 1) and overwhelming amount of plot threads and that it would be almost impossible to tie all of them in a satisfying way. This has been repeated tons of times. Literally almost nobody complained that events are being rushed.
The issue is that characters are acting out of character, many of them are suddenly retarded and the writing is just atrocious at times. Just take the re-edit of Euron killing Rhaegal from last episode: just by rearranging the scenes, it all made kind of sense, and it wasn't some cheap shock effect where apparently Dany and the two dragons fail to spot Euron's fleet, while they manage to 3 shot Rhaeagal. Then fail to hit Dany and Drogon while flying towards them.
Is GoT still a ton better than most tv shows? Sure is.
It's just hard to accept the glaring differences in quality, and the growing number of cheap "you didn't see that coming, did you lmao" moments.
It's also hard to ignore comments made by D&D, telling that Arya had to kill the NK because nobody expected it and that Dany forgot about the Iron Fleet.
Oh and also Dorne.

Dany should have been able to see the trap from the air but it did make sense for Euron to be there since Cersei and company know they landed there last year and made it the Westeros base.
D&D didn't balance the power scales swimmingly but they had to be balanced somehow. Sopranos used to catch hell when it aired for stupid Tony dream sequences and unnecessary 1 legged Russian trist. The Wire caught hell for S2 about the docks and S5 reporter stuff. Each show had reasoms for their takes. While GOT may not have the same intrinsic show reasons as others, 95% of the commentary now is just a b!tch fest.

If Jon does end up killing Dany and taking the throne, it’s going to be hilarious seeing all of the articles pop up about how sexist the show is for making every woman who rules alone evil/insane.

Adding to the list of storylines they just hope we forget about... Didn't Cersei and Euron use borrowed money from the Iron Bank of Braavos to hire the golden company? They are no joke, have an army of their own, and will always get what's owed to them.
Except when the writers just ignore it ofc.

Didn't Cersei and Euron use borrowed money from the Iron Bank of Braavos to hire the golden company? They are no joke, have an army of their own, and will always get what's owed to them.
