Fukk me, you sure are a dumb one. Your characterization of Bucky is way off, and your reading comprehension is pitiful.

He can't really, which is why it seems weird. I'd say there's pretty much no chance they'll go through the super soldier serum routine again, otherwise why not just do that with everyone like Hawkeye, Fury, Agent Hill, etc. as well? Like I said, it's not necessarily a bad direction to go, it will just be interesting to see how it works out. It's not like Falcon can't hold his own against human targets.

I have always gotten a kick out of the people analyzing all of these comics and movies like it is real life and if such and such happened than this could happen and so on and so forth. Such a waste of time.

Same with GOT.

It is impossible to analyze these things because the stories are literally whatever the writers and directors decide to put in the script that day on a whim or even with some real time consuming thought. There is no behind the scenes analysis needed because there is nothing going on behind the scenes with these 'characters'.

If the writers decided to make Hulk gay for example? That is just something a SJW writer decided to do and not because of any realness from the 'character'.

You guys are totally wasting valuable time talking about this. Either you liked the movie or you didn't (I didn't) and talk about why. Anything more than that is just stupid.

No.... I didn’t miss that. That’s what I was talking about. Why the need for CM and SW seemed just as powerful (even more tbh)?

Clearly the whole Captain Marvel movie was a chitty "girl power" thing. Want to see it done the right way? Wonder Woman. Even the ordinary men in that movie are not weak for the sake of being weak, or potatos - they are simply ordinary and she is not, and you don't get the feeling that its fukin gender-warfare.

And when they tied it back to Justice League, for all the issues that movie had, they didn't nerf Batman or Superman.

Thor and Hulk are supposed to be the strongest avengers ... seeing fat Thor and Hulk hide in a Hulkbuster armor ... shame.
I don't think the Captain Marvel movie itself was SJW at all. I mean it's easy to have Brie Larsons off screen antics warp your perception of the movie

I used "girl power", not SJW. I hate that term and the guys on here who use it and then claim someone reeeeeeee's autistically, are usually the guys who are the screechers themselves.

Captain Marvel had this on-going theme of bad men beating her down, she always standing up, of course the antagonist had to be a male who abused her trust, and she sends him packing and not just defeating but also embarassing him. She has no single relationship that'd tie her to earth, because that would probably make her weak or some chit. Its such bullchit cliché and actually is everything thats wrong with misunderstood feminism.

Wonder Woman even had a love interest in her movie, had a group she cared for, but that didn't make her character weak, it made her more accessible. When it comes to female characters, Marvel really sucks.

i hope that there will be some sort of end credits when capt returns the stones back to their timeline.

-capt goes to asguard: imagine the look on Thor's face after he returned the hammer back to 2013 timeline.
-capt goes to Vormir: returns the soul stone and meets up with red skull

That is a part of the movie that I liked the most, I thought it was an awesome scene! I understood the feminist theme behind it, but I thought they used it to great affect for the story.

Also, I don't know why (not necessarily you) some people seem to think it was so far fetched that she would have encountered sexism in the 70s growing up, and in the military in the 80s... That's not a far fetched context. 'Tom boys' face social disapproval when I was growing up in the 90s.

Also, the supreme intelligence was clearly depicted as a female - even though the intelligence is supposed to be genderless.

If I had to guess, her having no strong bonds and having difficulty bonding is going to play into Captain Marvel sequels. They pretty much made her seem like a lone wolf, and I think they are did that on purpose to create an arc.

It also makes sense why she flew when Fury called her, because she is one of the few beings that she had bonded to being alive. And they bonded during such a transformative part of her life.

Captain Marvel had a female and male director.

The screenplay was written by the directors, and another female.

My issue with the scene is that, unless you live a very sheltered life, I'd bet you could cut such a scene for most ORDINARY males, let alone the extraordinary ones. Picking yourself up is an essential life skill I hope most have mastered by the time they are adults, so the only thing that makes her case "special" is apparently her gender and that the meanie's are always male. I agree that the instances are not far-fetched, I just think they don't craft a personality that is ANY different than most of us, regardless of gender.

Fury calling her ruined a lot for me. Not immediately, but when I had time to process all movies before going to see Endgame. The movies live off those repetitive moments where the bad guys are seemingly winning and the hero either digs deeper or the power of friendship saves the day, or whatever. So what they are telling us is that Fury thought to himself: "Ok, so enormous alien ships are attacking New York, but nah ... now is not the time for Captain Marvel, I will keep her as a joker for later!", same with all the other cataclysmic moments in other Marvel movies. They should have found a better way of introducing her, even if it was just someone from SHIELD shipping Fury's staff, including the BROKEN pager to the Avengers, and Prof Hulk or someone, just out of curiosity or boredom fixes it and it starts paging someone they don't know. Something that doesn't say "Fury pulled her out, by chance, 2 seconds before becoming dust" ... imagine Fury had her pager in a different Jacket that day ... c'mon.

I disagree. Social context matters IMO, and she used to do things (in 90s speak, she would have been called a Tomboy) that were traditionally male things, eg. Go Kart racing, joining the air force to become a pilot... Basically high risk taking activities.).

Most ordinary guys IME of course need to overcome challenges, but they rarely IMO face harassment for simply belonging to a demographic and behaving unconventionally (unless they are racial minorities.. Though that depends on the social environment).

She became a female pilot, in a time when women had to face disapproval and harassment for wanting to become pilots. The story traces that back to her childhood when she wanted to race with boys, hurt herself, and was yelled at by her dad who told her what she was doing wasn't for girls.

Then the supreme intelligence - depicted as a woman - was literally and figuratively holding her down, so I think the montage showed how she developed a deep tenacity, and doesn't allow anyone to hold her down. The supreme intelligence was psychologically trying to demotivate and manipulate her (just like the harassment she faced in the military for example) but she never let it stop her.

So that's why I think the scene worked well.

The downside - which I think/hope we will see in sequels - is that she doesn't work well with others, because she never really had a trustworthy and encouraging mentor, she had to find her motivation and tenacity purely by herself.
I agree that the instances are not far-fetched, I just think they don't craft a personality that is ANY different than most of us, regardless of gender.
I know this is not a popular opinion on the misc, but IMO and IME women in the 70s, 80s, and 90s when scenes in the film were set did face casual sexism.

Everybody has challenges to overcome, but the reason why those challenges exist may (note I said may, I'm not saying for definite) be because of gender. Like you say, her facing sexism in the social environment and time period she was is not far fetched.

(Look at the misc! Imagine if almost any miscers were any woman's boss... I highly doubt a woman who is competent would be given the same respect or recognition by their miscer boss, as their male counterpart. I would argue that for SJWs a woman just has to be barely competent to get massive praise, whereas for anti-SJWs - like miscers - a woman probably has to be at an elite level in order to get basic praise)

I acknowledge that it was a feminist inspired moment/montage, but I thought it was a very well written one, because I think it gave us an insight into her character

Fury calling her ruined a lot for me. Not immediately, but when I had time to process all movies before going to see Endgame. The movies live off those repetitive moments where the bad guys are seemingly winning and the hero either digs deeper or the power of friendship saves the day, or whatever. So what they are telling us is that Fury thought to himself: "Ok, so enormous alien ships are attacking New York, but nah ... now is not the time for Captain Marvel, I will keep her as a joker for later!"
I agree... I had to switch off my brain to let that go.

Those are good points, I think its a matter of perspective ultimately. I was raised in a foreign country, so I experienced what effects it has to be part of a specific demographic (i.e. "that foreigner kid"). Maybe it should make me more sympathetic to the plot of Captain Marvel, but actually it does the opposite, because I dislike being identified by the demographic group I belong to, and I dislike using my heritage or background as an excuse, even if it did add some hurdles along the way.

The Marvel way (and most Hollywood/US productions) are very very tone-deaf, maybe because the audience wouldn't pick up on subtleties. She has to be a victim before she can be a hero, stark contrasts so the audience picks up the progression of her character. I always prefered if there were far more grey nuances rather than black and white, so maybe that plays a role in why I dislike that movie so much.

I am pretty sure that women TODAY face casual sexism and back in the 70s/80s it was borderline rapey behavior. The "SJW" (hate that term) movement does a disservice to those groups they think need help/support from them. I imagine social/cultural tendencies like a pendulum. Ideally we want it to slow down and rest in the middle, the balance we should seek. But both sides think they need to pull it as hard as possible to their end of the spectrum, which only leads to the pendulum swinging harder and harder, never making progress. No idea where I am going with this, it just popped up in my head and I had to write it down.

What I am saying is: "just" because in the past certain groups had it harder, we shouldn't overcompensate today, because all we do is alienate the other side, and they will not be willing to compromise, even if it would make sense.
