Did we come up with any better ideas today on this? Someone said increase the minimum wage, even though only like 5% of workers actually only earn minimum wage so that won't do much. Any other great ideas? Just take all the money away from the rich and give to the govment?
The guy has a net worth of 107 billion dollars. Why doesn't he practice what he preaches, and give a huge chunk of that to a social program?

I don't really care about the ultra rich since I'm doing fine on my own. Their existence doesn't harm me in any measurable way.

No one takes you seriously, dumb dave.
So you’re here to talk trash and troll, not have a conversation? Cool. Keep being bitter. Also ironic that you sit here hating though you most likely are posting from a product created or led by the 1% you hate so much. Keep spending. Keep giving them your money. Keep being poor. Keep crying.

Post 238.

Just for fun, look at the low paid workers employed in your own country, and mine, by very rich international corporations, and work out how much the government, with tax dollars, your tax dollars, has to assist those people in work to live. Then ask yourself where is Bezos’ money really coming from. Then ask yourself how much money the government, your government, owes, and if it could ever pay it back. Who do you think is going to pay the price ultimately. Main Street Joe, or Bezos? Who paid in 2009?

To those who hate billionaires; would you want a world where they didn't exist? For better or for worse they actually drive innovation and help improve society as a whole. They're a double edged sword though I agree and they have to be put in check but I think taxing 90% is ridiculous.

Please stop speaking facts and logic.
Btw I'm not hating on the rich. Why tf would I? Other than the fact that they pay less tax than you.
And you'd still be on their dink.

I just acknowledge the issue. And the main step towards solving a problem is acknowledging it.

We either live in a society where we agree to a certain wealth redistribution or we just agree that those who don't make it to a certain echelon should be doomed to live a terrible life without any help whatsoever.

This is where it comes down to at the end of the day.
But in America, it's never gonna work due to the culture.

We're here all rattled at this statistic but I'm sure it'll stay like this, in America, forever.

What do you mean "won't help themselves?"

I'm not suggesting we give junkies a bunch of free cash here and destroy mansions.

Some people won't help themselves, sure, but most can't. It's a very, very American mentality to assume that the poor are somehow responsible for their own misery when that is not the case way more often than not.

We go about helping people by actually providing competent services funded by people who can afford to do so, and that shouldn't just be the middle class.

They have this mentality that everyone should be living the dream. Face it, if you're a high school dropout with 2-3 kids, you're probably going to be living a pretty ****ty, lower class life.

Hell, even a married couple that's middle class with two kids. If they get divorced, then you can say goodbye to that three bedroom house.

What services? Hell, there's section 8, food stamps, welfare, what else do you want?

Also, if you're middle class, you don't need any services.

for brevity's sake.. ill just say it simply. this is what i think the problem is. im unsure which one is natural - and by "natural" i generally mean the basis upon which humans got this far. either society and altruism is or selfishness is

its quite weird, because we are talking extreme selfishness but there is still a semblance of helping society at the same time e.g. bill gates creating that sanitation thing. i really think the root is selfishness but its still got other factors that help society
