Bought my first townhouse at 24 and upgraded to a single family on 1/4 acre at 29. First house was always the 5 year plan.

We live in a really nice house right now neighbors are all attorneys school supers etc but our income keeps going up so we may build a true forever at some point in the near future.

It was a lot easier when I was buying my first house. Housing prices were much much more reasonable. Plus it was just a small 3 bedroom ranch. Now I'll prob be renting this chitty condo for the rest of my life.

Depending on your area and how long you intend to stay there, I'd be leary about buying a condo. I'm pretty sure they're really hard to sell. I wouldn't be so unhappy if this place was nice and updated. It's old and chitty and 3rd floor and I hate it but I'm kinda stuck here. The one great thing is no yard work or outside maintenance. Everything is shoveled and plowed in the winter too.

FYI the average age of a repeat home buyer in the US is 52 and the average age of a first time home buyer is 32. Obviously the misc is CEO 10k a day central.

21, but I compare the value of everything else to that time frame so now I see everything as overpriced and it pisses me off...my house now is very modest but its paid for and I really really like that so I'm not in the market anymore!
