I think some miscers were complaining that Anti Biden/left threads even in the RP forums were getting locked.

Anti Left threads getting locked?

They are likely bullchitting, or there was a good reason why (e.g. it descended into racism.)

About 80% of the threads on the first page of R/P are anti-left. If you go there now, you'll see what I mean. It's always like that, I regularly post there.

It was a politics thread and I've movedmanyof his threads before as a courtesy. This isn't complicated, if it's a politics thread, it belongs in the section specifically created for politics. I feel like there's no way to say that without being condescending, lolz.

Ok, thanks for responding.

I'm sure there's more spill-over with politics into the Misc section just because it's an election year and we have a bunch of social, racial, moral, etc issues that are tied up in "politics" without them necessarily being specifically a religious or political issue (just a byproduct or association). Just a lot more noise this year.

I can understand why some people would rather make a discussion on Misc than specifically on R&P, but also understand why some people want things consolidated. Misc is 70% chitposting anyway, soooooo.... Iunno.

No problem, and there is a lot of noise for sure. I think we're trying to keep the BLM, virus, gender ideology, all of that social stuff in the main misc...but if it's a straight up Trump / Biden thread, it's probably going to get locked and maybe moved it's someone nicer than myself

If you hold any firm positions politically (or about anything) a good exercise is to seek out people who criticize or attack your position. And I mean actually find, read, and think about the educated opposing arguments people are making.

90% of it is garbage, noise of people copy/pasting some talking point they read wherever they get news that doesn't upset them from, and then pretending its their own thoughts.

10% of it will really challenge your views, and get you to really think about why you are so dug in. Gives you a more nuanced viewpoint.

Most posters in R&P are just bucketing chit at each other with a red or blue bucket, that's not the place to go.

I definitely agree, I dislike echo chambers.

It's one reason why go on R/P and Far Right sites regularly, it's so right leaning so that I'll be exposed to radically different perspectives.

I've seen what happens to people's minds when they are only used to being in echo chambers. They can't articulate their positions well, and they do not know how to see things from other's perspectives. It's just circle jerking and back patting.

If I do shift to Right Wing, I'll probably start debating people on LeftyPol and youtube comments.

I prefer making them in this section so one of the mods can move them for me into that other section it keeps them sharp and active.

I agree that is the best way.

Only recently I realized that the political philosophy that I've least looked into is Conservatism (despite regularly debating them). So I've been reading some Conservative philosophy books, and my mind is pretty blown honestly.

Read about the relationship between the two and why they are both equally necessary. Unchecked conservatism and unchecked progress are just as destructive.

The tension and dialogue between the two is what makes modern society great. People lining up on blue and red teams and fighting in the street braveheart style with fireworks and AR's is not.

Intersectional politics and the focus on group identity and shared guilt in a group is a terrible thing to happen to western society.
