Never saw it coming. I had no idea there would ever be another tournament.

Lol

If there will be a season 5 and 6 I’m guessing they’ll introduce new characters. Unless they all remain under 18 for another couple of years. When they hell they no longer gonna be minors (on screen that is obviously).

Spoiler!
not a fan of Kreese taking over Cobra Kai -- I liked it better when Johnny was in full control and the story being a sort of redemption / alternate point of view of Cobra Kai. Making Cobra Kais bad guys is just lazy.
The show likes to throw in a lot of twists so maybe Johnny will end up back at Cobra Kai. His newfound relationship with Larusso could turn to sh!t that forces him back on the side of his son and former sensei for season 5.

Are you saying that the original Karate Kid movies were as dry and predictable as S3 has been?

Because that's absolutely not true. The storylines changed. And someone mentioned above and I agree, that Johnny's character is the only reason to watch. He makes it hilarious.

You know what would be really good? Is if Johnny travelled back to the hot mamacita he's with's hometown and did some karate chit there. THAT would make a story. Bring in some cartel youngsters etc. - shake it up.

I was frowning at the screen when Larusso repeated the same story about the car word for word from S2. I'm like "they already did that!!!" My husband was like, that was with the other kid. O_o

No, I never said that.

All I'm saying is it's a show about karate and an old rivalry. So.... yeah, I'm kinda not surprised by talk of a tournament.

I get you, but when they were smashing in Kreese's face, they all of a sudden had to stop and revert to "the tournament" instead of ending it there. Wouldn't it have been nice to throw a twist in there to some other outcome. I dunno, maybe I'm just bored of it ending up on the mats again and again.

Only way to allow Karate back was to have the actual kid that almost died pleading for it. Which ended up happening.

Maybe. I dunno, feel like they are dumbing it down and is really losing the charm and ironic smartness of season 1. For example, that dinner with Allie and Larusso, they just had her do an exposition on what the point of the show is (i.e., things not black and white, different perspectives lead to different valid meanings, etc.) - the fact that they felt the need to point out this obvious point to us shows that either their writing is getting dumber or they are now writing this show for 12 yr olds.

The arc of the story really needs to get back to the basics of S1 - a tale of redemption for Johnny where, after a few bumps along the road and setbacks, he ultimately chooses the right thing and prevails over Daniel and Daniel and Johnny end up having mutual respect and understanding for each other (critical for Johnny to prevail over Daniel as wtf else would Daniel ever respect that loser).

Also, wish they would flesh out the differences in technique and style of Cobra Kai and Miyagi. For example, Daniel teaches this high concept, artful karate that is sort of magical and can be effective in certain situations, whereas Johnny teaches a more practical MMA-style technique that is less artful and kind of brutish, but much more efficient and practical than Karate.

Still enjoyed S3 - literally lol'd when Johnny knocked the books out of that kids hand in HS and said "sorry old habit" and when he wrote that gushy FB reply to Allie and then said "nah, too long" and deleted it and wrote "not much, u?" Also, as much as I'm not a fan of the direction they took the Kreese arc, his backstory was pretty cool.

Females: Needs Hilary Swank. She's canon.
Her and Ali could get it on.
Daniel's wife and moon can get it on.
Yasmine and Tory for sure. Maybe a big sleepover at Sam's and sht gets wild.

Males:
Kreese, Silver, Barnes. Johnny, Bobby, Danielsan, bring chozen back.
The fights we need are Barnes vs Johnny. Chozen vs kreese. Silver vs danielsan.

Bobby can say prayers.

Also, the video game is fun af. Its an homage to 90s side scrolling beat em ups, and the story is a fun little arc that fits in between seasons 2 and 3. I recommend if you like video games that are mindless fun paying homage to all things cobra kai

Moon looking like a strong 30 yr old in this latest season. Would support a Moon and Lurosso lez scene.

As much as I hate breaking character well Of course I knew there’d be an annual tournament. I am rooting for the Ass Hole Twins to advance somewhat but ultimately falling short to Tory, Kyler or Robby.

They make me think the cobra Kai writers are clearly WWE viewers. They had Mitch and Chris drop a little wrestling knowledge lol.

Whoever wrote those lines knew wrestling history.

Season was meh. Seems like a kids show now instead of a show made for adults who watched the original Karate Kid growing up as kids. Should have kept it like that instead of making it more about high school drama instead of the Johnny redemption arc with adult problems.

Really bummed it seems like they aren't keeping Ally in it as well, would be cool to see her team up with Johnny more instead of Miguel's Mom, but she's probably the most famous Hollywood name at this point...

Also, bringing in Hilary Swank at the end of the last episode would have been hnnngggg Shes's shown she's not above doing Netflix shows.

Sam is thicc. Loved the fights between her and Tory.

This season was alright. Felt like filler and build-up to next season mostly. Loved the reunions with Ali, Kumiko, and Chozen.

My thoughts as well. I was hoping Daniel and Johnny would get more screentime together and we'd finally get past the whole Cobra vs Miyagi thing, but they doubled down on it AND added a new school.

I agree, I see a lot of people fawning and I thought it was kinda meh. My issues (granted a lot are suspension of disbelief):

where are the parents of the other kids? If that "karate riot" actually happened, I can't imagine many of the kids going back to karate. SPECIFICALLY Hawk, whose mom called the school against his wishes to report the bullying - you don't think she would be concerned over her kid's ridiculous change in character and aggressive and violent tendencies? I mean, how much of a sociopath do you have to be to break your former best friend's arm in that manner? Speaking of which, no way does Demitri NOT rat out Eli for doing it and he would be going to juvie. Never mind them becoming friends again shortly after the arm healed.

I get that Shue probably doesn't want to commit to the show - but man I can't see how someone in Johnny's position would pick not financially well off single mom Miguel's mom over DOCTOR single mom Ali. Especially since he was about to make a move on her and they got interrupted but then he walks away like he chose Miguel's mom. I thought that was a weird turn as well. I get Ali's response - she was looking to relive some old fun after getting divorced but then finding out he has a gf, she steps back.

The amount of times they actually say karate in the show is kind of amazing - like they cram it in so unnaturally.

it's like you said in your other post, I think it was a set up for next season.

I really don't get the Kreese thing, other than to have a villain. I get in the movies, he was a small business owner, winning the tourney is good for business, and he is a over competitive violent coach - all makes sense. But now? Is his revenge for that so bad that he has to use high school kids to torment Daniel and now Johnny 35 years later? Seems odd.

Here's to hoping Kreese recruits karate bad boy Mike Barnes next season.

Finished season 3.

I think it was okay.

Was thinking something more dramatic was coming at end of season.

Some of the acting and fight choreography was cringe, but its not like the movies were any better.

Lines are getting blurred who is good guy bad guy.

It feels to me season 4 is gonna be less Daniel/Johnny.

There is no more old characters to bring back.

I hated 3. I never liked them having Daniel fear Barnes. Because he got the win/point but really Barnes made him his bitch up until then. I just wanted Daniel to land more than a single hit.

Now I get why after he helped Sam overcome Tory.

What was the point of the POW camp scene.

That captain treated him like shiit, didn't tell him that his gf died.

to humanize him, maybe explain a bit why he is that way and that he wasn't always a bad guy. Hollywood has been moving that way for awhile now - more and more often seeing humanized villains.

I liked the last 2 episodes but overall previous seasons. I prefer simpler storyline and focus mainly on Johnny, which the last episodes did. I’m not a big fan of seeing a bunch of kids fight and seeing an old man basically trying to be a kids gang leader because of war ptsd is a bit cringe. His war story flashbacks were pretty good though and expect Miyagi ones in future.

So, season 3 was just a repeat of season 2 and season 4 will just be a repeat of season 1. Check.

It was the GOAT until this season. The only way to have saved the season was to have taken Kreese out, and THEN have the dude he called come in to take over Cobra Kai.

To give us a back story. He was a good guy until his G/F died and CO tried to kill him. And to set up the call.

My favorite character this season was Amanda. Yasmine looks like a younger version woman I dated last year. HNNNNNG.

Least favorite is Old Kreese and Tory.

I think lines are getting clearer and it is falling into old tropes - this appears to be the main complain of this season.
