This is the part that makes me cheer for hedge funds losing. Even the winning hedge funds are doing nothing but trying to manipulate stock prices short term. So a successful Hedge "steals" money from the market that comes out of someones pocket. And the unsuccessful ones are still getting paid to try. Just another of many wasteful ways large sums of money are spent.

I have another platform available but I feel most of those redditors who bought in probably use solely robinhood

You don't have to be a pro, dude.

In 07/08 there was a global economic meltdown. Only approx 20 economists are on public record predicting it (I hunted around for who predicted it post meltdown, and it was agreed from a variety of sources only about 20 did). That is an appalling number, and shows how poor their education/models are.

What is even worse is that some of the people who were on public record (Peter Schiff, Steve Keen, Noureil Roubini) then became economic doomsday shills, and they were shown to be wrong.

Economics is a field that I don't personally respect much after seeing that fiasco unfold (I followed it closely post 07/08, and became disillusioned with the field post 2012 when I realized too many of them were not the experts that they pretended to be).

Though, I do listen to macroeconomics investors.

My gut instinct is that it isnt wise to screw with a market and economy that is literally vaporware at this point. In my personal opinion there is no way the market should be this strong (inflated) with half the businesses closed down and 1/2 the companies not making money due to Covid.

In as much as it "cool" to eat the rich (who have been eating us for generations) we could be playing with fire....and I REALLY dont want to stand in a food line because a bunch of redditors kicked off a free fall.

Are we not acknowledging that hedge fund clients are typically large institutional investors? Corporations and chit like pension funds, labour unions, government worker groups, etc

Short squeezing these hedge funds is very likely short squeezing ordinary Americans whose money has been pooled together and managed by these funds


But I guess if the intent is to screw over the boomer, as so many of these WSBers claim on message boards, then I guess it makes sense to screw over the pension funds and unions

Dunno who knows but a lot of these trading companies sell their data on what your trades are as their clients to these same hedge funds so they can use that info to strategise against, thats why they have these low commission inducements, they want your trading info to sell, they dont care about you making money.
