My dad is mad at reddit for pulling his stocks down.

Up until they allowed retail investors to execute their own trades via online trading platforms, the market was at least somewhat rational.
It's probably past the point of no return at this point.

Honestly, at this point I'm sure Wall Street is behind half the posts on WSB. They collectively have a lot more smarts, money, and experience manipulating the market than these kids ever will.

That would be QAnon level 5D chess. I find that hard to believe.

Yes, my FIL could have been more diversified and could have made a better exit. He did do a lot of research beforehand though, and actually went out and toured the company.
Yes the company was taking a beating from cheap Chinese solar panels, but they also were in a good cash position and held multiple patents w/I was told work in progress towards a couple of more potentially profitable patents.

Reading this I couldn't help but think of the White House press conference yesterday when John Kerry was asked about all the jobs being lost in the energy sector and his reply was " well they can now get better jobs building solar panels".WE DON'T NEED NO WATER!

If anything these huge valuations have created more money for the middle class/average investor than any other wealth building tool available.

As for Wall Street vs. Redditors, "Wall Street" isn't some unified entity. I'm absolutely convinced that WS firms that didn't have short positions (which would be plenty of them) will be on reddit pumping, dumping, hyping, manipulating, etc. to make money and let the average uniformed "autist" on Reddit take the loss when all is said and done.
Contrary to what a lot of Redditors seem to think, this type of thing has been going on forever.

While this is causing a lot of pain for hedges who focus on fundamentals and going long/short on equities, quant funds probably are (or would have been) capitalizing on this big time
It'll be the retail investor that loses in the end, they only know the very very tip of the iceberg

It’s not Robinhood fault this is merely a case of overpopulation and a case of: “fuk off we are full” to the masses because stocks just went ultra mainstream this month.

Wall Street are Boomers. It's only been the past year that they began to get into crypto. They are slow on the uptake, this likely caught them off guard.
