Happens to me pretty often and I don't even prep and go to the gym maximum 4 hrs a week. I always get comments about being a gym rat or living at the gym. It's pretty annoying.

its just a way to feel better about themselves for looking like chit. It's so pathetic. I get it all the time. Its passive aggressive asf

I hate talking about the gym, I avoid getting involved in the topic when people bring it up so I know it's not me. And I only go to the gym 3 days a week so I know I'm not some gymhead. But people make these comments just because I have a respectable physique

either eat before you go, or if you MUST eat at a very specific time, then maybe take the food in your car, and in the middle of dinner bounce out for like 10 minutes and scarf it down.

I remember some dude brought a tupperware full of chicken to memorial day party on the lake. He was on the boat tied up next to us. He was sitting on the bow eating his chicken while everyone else was partying. It reminded me up that misc picture of the dude standing in the corner thinking "my feet hurt"

Now if you look like Phil Heath or at a minimum in the IFBB, then go for it as thats your livelihood. If you are not, then im sure people will make fun of you as they are basically saying "loosen up a little bro". Funny thing about that guy in the boat is that he was smaller than most of us on my boat. And we were shot gunning bears and drinking whiskey like it was water LOL.

The thing about this kind of stuff is it reeks of a lack of social awareness. Surely there was an element of insecurity projection but a lot of the ribbing has to do with coming off as an autistic weirdo in social gatherings.

I agree. It can be looked at from many different angles. As example, I have a business in tech. If I was at a party, say sitting at a dinner table and I had to take a call from a client, I wouldnt take my laptop out right there and just get on my call. I would discretely leave the table, take the call then come back and join the conversation when Im done.

I can’t imagine taking food out with me, so damn cringe. Missing or cheating on a meal is not going to make or break you unless you are days out from a comp, all you gain is looking like an autistic weirdo.

Cringe. Your reply came off so salty lol.

Whats wrong with going out and having some Indian food? Even if you don't like Indian food there must be something on the menu you can munch on and have a good time with your mates. I feel like in your head you think you don't come across as a weirdo because you don't talk about bodybuilding but maybe it's your vibe and autistic energy that your friends are aware of.

You got so offended by their initial joke which I don't see as a big deal at all. My friends say far worse to me and it's all good, I just hit them back with another joke and we laugh about it. Instead of playing it off you got mad and started to be stand offish.

I didn't want to say but I read that and thought exactly the same thing. They were trying to just bury the hatchet since they probably feel a little bit bad about breaking his balls and instead he just doubles down which just further cements their opinion that he's pretty clueless about social interactions.

Edit: Also OP wants to know what to do so that people won't think lifting's the center of his identity but it's stuff like this that causes that in the first place because the reality is lifting has become his whole identity.

I mean, you made a thread asking for opinions and everyone is saying you're uptight but you clap back because you don't want to hear it. If that's the case and you don't care to listen then just delete the thread.

The advice is solid. They made a joke about your eating because of a silly thing you did and you got so mad you wanted to bring religion into it. There's a million ways you could have played it off and gotten their respect.

And then they still ask you to go and as the above miscer said, you doubled down on your passive aggressiveness instead of receiving their olive branch.

Finally, absolutely nothing is wrong with people not liking alcohol and drinking something soft at a party. Much like I'm 100% certain there would be more westernized items in the restaurant that you could order and be content with.

Strong lacking in social awareness brah.

Coal Man, I apologize.

I know you mean well so I'm sorry if I came across as a dbag. I strongly disagree about being "Socially unaware" - I have plenty of friends. None of them do this, just this group. What's wrong with bringing religion into it as a light hearted joke ? IIRC you are Muslim right ?

Imagine I invite one of those guys to another group of friends of mine and then say something like "Come over but _ _ _ _ don't you bring that Quran with you xD" - how would that be received ? Especially when it is said often ?

BTW I appreciate you putting in your 2 cents. I CAN see what you are saying in some ways so cheers.

"bruh, don't get to look like a machine eating indian food".

If you seriously want to break away from the lifter tag you need to tone down how to serious you take it. If you're not at IFBB level or monetising somehow then being the tupperware guy is literally cringemaxxing.
