We've got a fenced in yard and it would be hard to imagine not having one. Even if we didn't have dogs, just so used to it now. What I don't understand are those high cinderblock fences you see in the southwest.
Maybe it's a dog run. First thing I thought.

The cinderblock fences and AC units on the roof became a standard by the mexican workers IMO. When I lived in El Paso (a few times) all the fences were stone just like across the border. Also, almost all homes traditionally had evaporative coolers on the roof. When folks started requesting HVAC on new builds, the workers/builders/designers were kind of stumped and just put the AC unit where the Evap cooler went and called it a day. It's now standard all around there.

It's usually fenced around here if you have under an acre. My house is on a .75 acre lot and is fenced. The only places around with more than one acre fenced are doing it to keep in the livestock or moved here from somewhere else.

Guy I bought my house from hand built about 15 columns for a Fence and ran electrical to all for lights
Neighbors said it took him 2 years and when he finally got done, him and the wife were getting divorced so they put it up for sale

Add in the Relocation assistance, i go to the next tax bracket....which beans the losses from my rental property are no longer deductable.

Angus peppered. Luckily i think ill be able to squeeze it without touching my stonks or crypto.

To add insult to injury, got paid yesterday. Was about 1300 short. Called payroll, they say call city treasurer because it was a lien (u fukkn wot m8?). Call treasurers tax office, they say oh yeah you havent paid your personal property tax on your GTI from 2016 until now. I said uhhhh...yeah thats cuz i lived in upstate new york and it was registered there. Her response "oh, you have to tell us you moved."

Fast forward an hour. Go out to my car, find last couple of registrations for new york. Dont find the one from 2016-2018ish but do find my temporary drivers license they gave me. Then called VA DMV to ask if they could help. Lady on the phone was like WTF? We had to back look up my vin to find the history since the account was so old. They faxed me history that said they dispositioned the car out of the system in 2016, and noted they *should* be cross checking with DMV in their system. Everyone does. So i scanned in everything and promptly blew up the city treasurer's inbox.

VA is fukt up in that regard. WTF at paying property tax on a car? Back in 07 I worked in Sterling and commuted weekly. For three weeks I roomed with Indian coworkers (lol) and parked regularly in the guest parking section 4 nights a week. Twice I got a ticket on my windshield saying that I needed to register my property with Loudoun County. Ended up getting a job closer to home a couple months later, and when I called to have those tickets cleared saying my residence was out of state and only worked in VA temporarily, they acted like they were moving mountains getting that ticket cleared

The PP tax is definitely an oddball. All these states get their chunk of flesh somehow. The funny part was i've lived in multiple cities and had cars in them all, yet never had the problem where the previous city charged me because i didnt "tell them i moved." And youre right, im sure i will get the $$ back...in 4-5 weeks. If anything the treasurer's office is right around the corner from work, so ill pay them a visit. And bring the stack of papers.
