Yeah and I do agree, your investment strategy has to be blended. But your thread doesnt make that statement. You are casting a pretty specific net without laying out your assumptions up front.

For those reasons, it makes you come across as someone bitter and that doesnt help sway "the kid's" choices.
If you came across as someone that actually understood different aspects of life, maybe "the kids" would think you had a leg to stand on with your positions.
because its worthless? its a serial code on a computer/database somewhere.

if you want to diversify your equity holdings you can buy bonds, or shiny gold rock, or cars, or watches, or real estate.

btc is a ponzi scheme get rich quick scheme. i feel like you know this deep down but you are biased because you bought in.

munger, buffet, yellen, bill ackman have all come out recently and said as much. again i believe the only reason youre debating me on this is because you hold BTC and youre looking to dump your bags on someone dumber than you.

How can those young people lose money when the whole crypto idea is to hodl forever and never sell? I mean, why sell super secure money of the future like BTC and turn it into worthless paper?

People betting on crypto are betting on decentralization of money. At least thats why I have money in it. I think its a good thing. And even though I cant tell you with 100% accuracy what the true value of that is, I also couldnt tell you what the true value of a share of Amazon is either.

stocks have been around for 100+ years.

When Jay Powell, every single POTUS, entire congress holds crypto instead of stocks in their 401k/roth then we can afford btc the same degree of confidence.

Not true of stocks with a very high PE ratio

Because stocks with a very high PE ratio are companies which are expected to turn a huge profit in the future. Amazon is the classical example, for the longest time (still do?) they never paid a dividend, so they had a PE of infinity. But investors know in the future they will have a potential to pay huge dividends

So lets say money does become decentralized. Why do your bitcoins matter in the future? There's so many different coins and the underlying technology is easily replicated and open source. And with the way bitcoin works, it will continually require higher and higher amounts of electricity and comppute resources to maintain the integrity of its ledger. Seems to me its destined to fail

You are not making logical points.
How is it a get rich scheme? Typically in a get rich quick scheme, someone is schemeing something and selling something to many people in order to get rich themselves. In the whole game of crypto, who is scheming?

I already have investments in all of the areas you call out....yes including CARS even though I wouldnt categorize thoes as investments but the vehicles I purchase for fun are either very low production number or actual numbered cars.

I can understand why certain people (like the ones you named) do not beleive in crypto. I am not arguing solely because I bought in. I am betting on the future of money being decentralized because I believe it would be better for global business.

Having middle men state the rules of the game when dealing with your money is what you prefer?

The fact that the democrats and the MSM are now doubling down on turning crypto into the latest target to focus on for climate change environmental hysteria... party's over. Crypto is getting a bad stigma, crypro investors are going to be looked at as reckless anti-environment monsters. Activists are going to oppose their existence.

IDGAF about environment change

But its clear the economics of this doesn't work. And many companies (github, aws, heroku, etc) that provide some kind of 'free tier' compute services are getting victimized by this garbage

bro you are getting all wishy washy and philosophical here trying to muddle the topic.

btc is worthless.

i buy stocks because its been the status quo investment vehicle for the entire history of America.

Its that simple.

Lets be real here. if you owned nothing but $SPY thats enough diversification for 99,9% of people in 99.9% of circumstances in life. No need to mess with shady crypto.

It doesn't matter what you care about, what matters is what the mass media cares about and how that effects the masses.

Thanks to the recent pipeline attack crypto also has the stigma of funding terrorism.

crypto will end in mass suicides. thats the only way it ends.

Bitcoin has been on a tear from the last bottom of $3k all the way up to $65k with little stoppage. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it finally drops down to $20k-$30k at some point before a slow build to a new cycle.

I always lol though at people who keep thinking its dead every time the price receeds even though its done the same cycle 5x before over a decade and every time bitcoin's price only climbs higher and higher.

I also lol at everyone calling it a ponzi scheme even though they likely have not spent more than 5 minutes reading about it. "I don't understand how it works or what it does, but it must be a ponzi scheme because people buy it hoping to sell it for more than they paid" You mean the same thing people do when they buy any stock? or when they buy gold or silver? Or real estate? Is there any investment people spend money on they buy and DONT expect to get paid more for it down the road? That's the nature of the beast when your current currency is constantly worth less every year, that you invest in things that hold value or gain value while the country's currency you use is constantly losing value year after year.

Why does anyone keep anything that is a medium of exchange including any fiat currency? To eventually exchange it for something else that one needs. I don't think you understand how this works...

Why is this the standard response: "you just dont know what it is, its the same thing as gambling on stocks"

A: Stocks represent companies which generate wealth, unlike bitcoin. You can profit from stocks even if you never sell in the form of dividends. You may be right about gold/silver, but everyone knows they are chitty "investments"

So how long have you spent researching and reading about the functionalities of bitcoin and how it works?

Everyone knows gold and silver are chitty investments? Why do wealthy people horde some of both then along with other assets?
