I think 3 plates. Its about the limit for people with chitty genetics, but obtainable for almost anyone willing to put in the work.

another fat heavy kunt bragging about his bench. Try cut to sub 15 and let's see you talk

Have legit been lifting 20 years and have never seen someone bench 495 in a public gym, and I used to work out at a hardcore bodybuilding gym. Have only seen 405 a couple of times.

225 for solid reps or 315x1 is the line for "respectable" in my opinion.

Miles may vary. Those are chump numbers in a powerlifter gym.
LOLWUT? My first time maxing out at 16 years old (untrained) I put up 205 @ 180 lbs. By the end of the semester I was putting up over 2 plates.

Fair enough, black genes can’t be topped

People can brag about monster benches but really comes down to:

- big bench press
- low bf%
- natty

3 plates is a good bench. I have traveled for work for years, lived in several different areas and probably been to 200 different gyms in the last 10 years. ive only seen someone (other than myself) do 405+ on bench maybe, 3 or 4 times. 99% of the time people have less than 3 plates on the bar. The most i ever did (i am natty) was 495. i was 6'5 300lbs at the time. The truth is in the real world its pretty rare to see guys stack more than 3 plates on the bar.

It's funny doing 4 plates for reps at planet fitness, especially since it's only 355 or so with the dumb smith machine. Everyone is mirin.

holy chit balls at misc standards. The title says "Decent". Decent = anyone benching enough to show they've consistently worked out for 12 months IMHO because that puts you in the top 5-10% of the population. Depends on size, age, etc.

I have never, not once, seen someone do a 3 plate bench that also didn't look like complete chit.

In on fraud thread of the day.

Natty and sub 20% BF I would say ~225-245 is the highest most casual gym goers will ever touch. Depending on bodyweight 250-315 is serious lifter status, and 400+ is stronk AF for any natty under 300# BW.

If you think there are many natty , low body fat % people putting up 3 plates then you are completely disconnected from the real world. It's an impressive feat

Please. There's nothing to be ashamed of if you bench in the mid-200's, but 315 is definitely achievable for an average size male with sub 20% body fat. You guys need to stop lifting at Curves.

Stronk reading comprehension. Never said it wasn't achievable, just that unless you have top tier genetics you have to actually put some serious effort and execution into training to get there. Your average 3-4 day a week gym bro that spends more time chit chatting than lifting (aka casual gym goers) is never gonna touch a 3 plate bench.

If you can bench 225 for reps then you have my respect. Depending on your size, i may not be in awe and may not stop and admire but to me it means that you have been lifting and there is hope.

If you can do 315+ then i may stop and admire your gains.

Majority of people never end up hitting 2 plates, so that's like my standard of srs or notsrs. 225 for 10 reps is a decent bench, but when you get to 3 plates, it's like alright, this dude is the real deal.

If you talk then you're a fukin idiot, but i lift 3 or 4 days a week and at my peak i could bench 315 for a few reps around 14%bf and my bench is chit

Bunch of frauds and bloatloards ITT that don't seem to understand the difference between decent and impressive. I'd say being able to rep 225 is decent. Or like someone else said, 1.5xbw 1rm is decent.

A 500lbs bench natty is absurd regardless of how much you weigh. I think Smirillon weighs around 300ish which makes it a 1.5-1.6x bodyweight benchpress.

585 close grip but it didn’t get recorded. Was about 6 months after this. My gyms been closed for over a year so I’ve been bodyweight exercises ever since. I’m sure I’ve lost a ton of ground.
