Easier said than done when you’re very active. I need to eat a minimum of 4,500 kcal/day to get a 0.5 - 0.7lb increase per week. Trying to eat healthy food and eating that much gets filling very quickly.

Inactive bulkers shouldn’t have a problem getting their measly 3,200 kcals in.

Assuming we're talking about clean bulking then obvs

Just LOL at trying to "clean bulk". If you want to get bigger, intake a surplus. It's that simple.

I understand it can be a difficult adjustment for twink bodytypes who arent used to eating a lot of calories at once, but it's really not that hard to put peanut butter in your mouth.

Cutting hard af. Tests willpower and discipline, constantly hungry, don't have the luxury of being able to eat junk food, have to pay attention to macros and sht actually takes work to do.

Pretty much this. When I first got into lifting waaay back, I was used to not eating much so "bulking" was kind of hard - definitely felt like I was having to force feed myself quite a bit - although I was also working a physical job at the time so who knows how many calories were getting burnt from that. Even back then I imagine I would have considered cutting more difficult (I mean to the point of getting legit ripped, I was lean back then but not shredded).

Alcohol is my kryptonite. I drink 1-2x per week and travel frequently. That pizza or massive plate of nachos sounds awfully good after a few whiskeys. It’s the reason my 3 month cut takes 6.

i cut back to only drinking a few at a bar with my boyos on either friday or saturday night

doesn't seem to be affecting my cut

prior to this, i was drinking many thousands of calories in beer alone per week but was somehow weight stable for 6 months

the wakeup call occurred when i had 2300 calories of beer in one night and then a 3 day hangover lol

Cutting is harder to experience but easier to measure and get right.

Bulking is easier to experience but harder to measure and get right. It requires you to trust the process a lot more, and and patiently exercise delayed gratification.

My maintenance calories are usually in the mid 3xxx range, so I speak from some level of experience. It really isn't hard or expensive to add calories. Eating a bowl of chicken/rice/veggies? Add 2 tablespoons olive oil. Bam, 200 calories added with zero extra fullness. Do that twice a day and you're at 400kcal surplus. Eating fruit? Add some honey. Having a dish with ground beef? Sub ground chuck in place of sirloin or round to up the fat content. Or as someone else said, drink a 20 ounce glass of whole milk a day. Assuming your macro/micro needs are met at your daily maintenance levels (as they well should be), it really doesn't matter where the surplus cals come from.

Former alco crew.

EASY way to lose some weight(if you want to) is quitting alcohol. Srs. Those cals add up quick and the binge eating cause of them.

Legit reason enough for me to stay sober. Skin is healthier too.

I dunno

Ive always found that its a lot harder to be motivated on a caloric deficit than subtly increase it and slowly gain muscle
