Assuming you're in the US, I was under the impression that the IRS wasn't taxing crypto 'buys'. I could be wrong but you're taxed when you trade an asset. There's nothing there to be taxed when wrapping BTC. It's a net 0 either way.

Not financial advice, I am a random idiot on the internet and not regulated or qualified in this subject what-so-ever :

Every exchange involving crypto, even USDC <--> USDT is a taxable event that must be reported.

If you don't report a 1:1 wrapping or whatever, will you be hauled off to jail for a million years? probably not. But to be compliant you must report everything.

HOW you report it, aka fitting a square peg in a round hole, in some cases simply isn't possible. So there is a ton of grey area. This is where "best efforts" fall to at least attempt to get the final tax owed number correct and actually pay taxes on financial gains you make.

That lottery strategy doesn't work if you're only making a 10x.

If you buy 12 lottery tickets for $1 each, and one of them hits for a 10x, you are still down $2... On the other hand, if you bought 2 lottery tickets for $6 each, and one hits a 10x, you've made $54

Itโ€™s viewed as a sale, and then a buy. They arenโ€™t considered โ€œlike-kindโ€. The IRS has clarified this. So you report the sale of BTC, and pay taxes on the USD gain. Then you buy the WBTC. Thatโ€™s how itโ€™s treated.

Sure, but I donโ€™t consider 10x a lottery ticket. Iโ€™m talking 100x+. Otherwise you could call ETH a lottery ticket even at this point. If any 1 of my 12 coins 100xโ€™ed, theyโ€™d become on par with my ETH/BTC holding. Anyway this convo is getting a bit boring and silly.

Understand why people fud, ignore it all, keep stacking, and wait. Simple as that, really - of course, picking the right project is the key but I feel it was pretty obvious at the time, if one had heard about it. Nothing else of that calibre was out there, Gilbert was a man who meant business.

But right now QNT is outside of my risk appetite, I have to say. I'm not actively encouraging people to buy at this price; it went 2500x from lows to highs this cycle, and in 2021 alone it's pulled 45x against BTC. Will it keep going? I don't know, maybe. It wouldn't surprise me if it did. But on the balance of things (TA, big releases/news very soon, crazy euphoria in the communities) it's a bit hot for me. Think of it like when BTC passes 100k, would you really be telling your mates to buy then? I mean, it could still go to 200k or 250k but... just gets kind of sketchy.

Up to you guys what you do with it; selling is everyone's choice to make depending on how they like to play things. Bear in mind that the privilege I have for buying so early and going in so big is that I get to play it safe at the end - so I ain't telling no brah to sell, but I ain't telling you to buy atm, either. Again, this all depends on your approach, timeframe, strategy, personal disposition, etc.

I'm quite interested in CVX and CRV lately as well, as mentioned - DeFi stuff is always popular and I think they're decent charts + solid incoom while waiting for moon.

As for "the next QNT"... well nothing is going to make you 1000x's now at this point in the cycle anyway, tbh. Sorry for newbrahs! You can still make solid gains, though, and set yourself up well. Got to think fairly long term. If it takes a few years to get deep into 8figs is that really so bad? You're talking 10's of 1000's per day averaged out.
well said. i say this to anybody who will listen. anybody who is looking to retire anytime soon should be excited for the next bear market because thats when you build your position. i just dont think most people have the balls to do it because you sit there for years building your bag with no real payoff. sometimes when i was doing it, it felt like i was in the middle of the ocean with a canoe and oar. but it helps if the project is building, releasing roadmapping, and communicating. it helps a ton

then as soon as the market comes back it's middle fingers to your boss.

Also does it cost money to move between a wallet and an exchange?
Get an unlocked phone from Target or something and set up a separate unique login (like a totally separate Gmail if using Android) and download Exodus wallet. The phone will be able to accommodate more wallets than a ****** or ledger can and is cheaper.

Noticed a $2500 USD airdrop for bridging to avalance (Good Bridging token). Absolutely lmfao, this is the only place on earth where you can find four to six digit airdrops inbetween the couches.

Pro tip: Arbitrum doesn't have a token yet but will. I highly suggest you bridge some money over.

Wrapped BTC breh. It's on the ETH network. Coinbase has it listed.

Airdrops are tokens given to select wallet addresses for free based on if that wallet met the criteria to qualify.

Sooo Arbitrum is just another Rollup solution that does the "optimistic" part differently?

and bridging tokens over to the L2 may potentially lead to that user receiving a juicy airdrop?

Is that what you're suggesting Serenadium?

You usually have to interact with a protocol. So Uniswap didn't tell anyone they were coming out with a token. Anyone who traded with there ETH wallet recieved 400 UNI tokens. Every wallet that interacted with the UNIswap protocol received tokens. LPs received tokens based on how much liquidity they provided.

Lots of protocols do this now. I used dydx precisely for this reason, but didn't get chit probably because I'm a U.S. cuck.
