2) Is there any reliable way for me to pick up any 3080 online? Like I see on nowinstock that bestbuy had 3080s in stock today but I'm guessing they're botted out the ass.

All I want is a 3080 at msrp or near msrp. I'll pay a reasonable amount over but not 2x like I'm seeing on ebay. I see so many people here managed to get them. How did you guys do it?
IDK all those answers but I can tell you historically that microcenter instore has some of the best deals that cant be had anywhere else so making the drive could be well worth it

To my knowledge Bestbuy is the only one offering founders edition cards in the US.

I dont have a complete bot, but I get notifications they second they drop. I have managed to get a 3070 in my cart 3 times and succeeded once. 3060TI I checked out then got a cancelation email a day later. 3080s are so hottly contested I doubt it is even possible.

Can someone recommend me some good 32" 144hz gaming monitors that I can snag during cyber monday/black friday? I wanted to go a little bigger with the size because I use the comp for trading stocks and stuff. Not a hardcore gamer just need something pretty decent.

I was looking at 2 options so far. Not really sure what I should be looking for aside from low ms and high hz?

haven't tried either of those, but I use the Odyssey G9 Odyssey 49" and then 2x of the Odyssey G7 27s and couldn't be happier

can confirm. I paid like $300 for the special RGB fans, and less than 1 year later, 3 of them have already failed.

Anyone see anything better for the price point? I do want to stick with the laptop unfortunately I don't have a dedicated gaming area to keep a desktop setup.

Dell G15 5511 Gaming Laptop - 15.6 inch FHD 120Hz Display - Intel Core i7-11800H, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6

$1,250

CPU/GPU seems solid for the price point... that's really all I care about aside from SSD drive... I would rather have a 1 TB SSD, but that is something that can be swapped out at a later date.

Asus pg278q died after like 6 years of use tried the Samsung odyssey g7 32 inch for a few weeks but ended up sending it back. Not enough depth on my desk, was to big. Its a shame it was a gorgeous monitor for single player and first person games cause the curve, but the curve also sucked for mmorpgs arpgs and desktop usage.

Thinking of either getting alienware aw2721d or lg gp850, anyone used either of those? Not sure if the lg is a good option cause the poor contrast especially coming from Samsung va panel.

Kinda baffling how little monitor tech has moved forward, there is still so many comprises with each panel type and specific monitors.

If you're going Dell though, better off paying a bit more for Alienware if you must have a laptop
Pretty basic FPS games. I don't play much, but like having the capability for those rare times I do hit up the boyos for a few hours. Not keen to pay the Alienware premium and I think the specs on this are probably best bang for the buck, but if someone wanna prove me wrong I am happy to hear it.

It'd probably be fine for 1080p gaming. Search the internet for "(laptop model) benchmarks" and make sure it has the same specs as yours since some of these models are customizable on order. Can also just search "RTX 3060 laptop benchmarks", etc.

You're paying such a high premium and in my experience, it's always disappointing.

There are some pretty small prebuilt desktops out there that you can travel with. I used one of them in college when I'd go back and forth from my dorm, or go to LAN parties.

It sounds like you have a one off experience. Monitor tech has moved extremely far forward in the last few years and there are some amazing options out there.

been doing a lot more editing and a lot less video gaming these days

might sell my whole setup and build a new PC and get a new monitor(s)

thinking an AMD 3970X with GTX 3090 and then may buy another LG CX-48 or perhaps a really nice color calibrated 4k 27" monitor

and definitely want to get rid of all my stupid RGB that I wasted money on a year ago. half my corsair fans are failing. no wonder the stock price dropped from $42 to $22/share since I've owned it.

In this day and age, there's almost zero reason to buy a 3090. Get a 3080ti (still overpriced) and save some $$

from the benchmarks I can see, it's pretty much splitting hairs between the 3080, 3090, and 3080ti. I can pick up a new 3090 for less than I can sell my 3080 for, so that's why I'd probably go that route

Haven't really looked into prices these days. I have a NIB 3080 sitting in my office without a computer. I was on a 1.5yr old EVGA queue for one and in the meanwhile got a 3080 and 3070 for my 2 comps, then the queue hit a year later and I just picked it up anyway. Been sitting in my office closet for months untouched. My intent was to build another computer for 3d scanning, but haven't got around to it, waiting to see what DDR5 and the newest **** can do.

Santa (me) brought new chairs for me and my gf. Got her a 2022 titan Evo secret labs. It's really way better then I expected. My dx racer was a huge let down so I was hesitant about another "gaming" chair. But I can Def say the secret labs is next level in terms of that style of chair. I tried it out for a few days and really liked it. Gf usually sits Indian style or weirdly in some way so I still got the xl version.

I ordered myself the Herman Miller Logitech embody. It should be here next week. I'm really happy to get rid of my dx racer chair. Never again.

can confirm that DxRacers are ****. Nothing more than a $50 mass produced chair that's marked up and sold to ignorant people lol.

the only chairs I'll ever buy again are Herman Miller. I have the Aeron now, you'll have to let me know how you like the embody.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

in other news, my PC has been ****ting the bed lately. sometimes when I turn it off, I'll go to turn it on the next day and it bluescreens and gives me errors and says I have to reset.

so in the last week I've reset the PC to factory like 4x. luckily I use an SSD just for the OS and some steam games and keep everything else on an HDD.

no idea what the problem is. I've done fresh installs of windows, factory reset everything, tried different monitors, etc.

I think it may be the universe telling me to build a new PC

Anyone ever buy a PCI card and the shield/bracket doesn't fit? I bought a Firewire PCI card from this guy, the photo didn't match what was shipped to me in that the only discrepancy was the bracket was a different size. Rather than deal with the hassle of a return, I just unbolted the bracket/shield and hooked it up, but now it's semi-exposed and not really "anchored" so I'm nervous the connection will be too loose or too much dust will get in.

Spoiler!

What would be a good way to hillbilly up something to cover that + hold the PCI card in place? I contacted the seller and he gave me a bit of a brush-off, but we'll see if he can find me a replacement shield.

$1400-$1500 has been the going rate for 3080's literally for about a year now. Pricing really hasn't come down enough to even notice.

looks like I may be out of touch, I got the 3080 and 3090 MSRP mixed up.

sheesh I didn't realize 3080s MSRP'd at $700 lol

anyways, I found my next monitor

basically the same as the setup I have now, except instead of 3 monitors I can just choose to use one. will get rid of all the annoying bezels and any issues with alignment.

Lol I saw this, it looks awesome.

I'm Def shopping for a large screen to replace my ultra wide. It's going to be tthis Samsung odyssey thing or the LG 42 c2 coming.

I bought my acer predator 100hz unltrawide at launch a long time ago and finally have a gpu (3080ti) of pushing more then that monitor can handle.

The Alienware ultrawide oled is extremely interesting given its insane gtg response time of 0.1 ms + 175hz.

In addition, there are coming out a ton of highly capable monitors which will be interesting (27", 1440p, IPS, 360Hz).
Truly the year of the monitors.

Unless you are >0.1% of the population in reaction time, a 360hz will not benefit you whatsoever.
